IDLES to play at Queen square near Riverside halls, the venues first concert for 20 years

“We are coming home”

A homecoming concert for the Bristol punk band is set to unleash two nights of live music, with Queens Square opening up its doors for the first time in 20 years.

The two-day gig kicks off Bristol’s festival season right around the corner from Bristol uni’s Riverside accommodation.

The event promises to be “the ultimate Bristol block party” with special guests, DJs and the best of Bristol’s street food and drink scene.

This will be many people’s first experience of the city centre green space coming alive with music. IDLES will lead the concert with passion for their home town of Bristol with their gritty and honest music.

Joe the band’s front runner said “We are coming home. We’re putting on a couple parties in Queen Square with music we love for the people we love. All is love x”

IDLES bring a community atmosphere to their performances that is both inclusive and lively. IDLES last performed in Bristol in February at Marble Factory, celebrating their fifth album TANGK.

The band was formed in 2009 by frontman Joe Talbot and bassist Adam Devonshire while the two were studying at UWE. The band released their first EP Welcome in 2012 and they have since had two number-one records across their five albums.

The band has also partnered up with BIMM University to provide a scholarship to low-income and under-represented students.

The concert will also be IDLES only UK event in 2025.

The organisers have worked closely with Bristol city council to ensure the event is in line with the city’s values.

Tickets for IDLES will go on sale at 10am on Friday 8 November at idles.seetickets.com/tour/idles.
