£500k ring, a glam team and Molly’s fav singer: The details of Tommy’s lavish engagement
He sent Molly-Mae invites to a fake brand event to get her to the dreamy spot
This week, every Love Island fan had the moment we’ve been waiting a long time for: 2019’s Tommy Fury and Molly-Mae Hague announced their engagement. Guys, this is our royal wedding.
Tommy proposed whilst the couple were away on holiday in Ibiza, in an intimate moment with their six month old daughter, Bambi. He’d been arranging his moment for weeks, sending out fake invites to a “brand event” and jetting Molly’s favourite singer and full glam team out to Ibiza, to set up the most perfectly romantic back-drop for popping the question.
Here’s a full look inside the incredible engagement moment of Tommy Fury and Molly-Mae Hague.
Tommy proposed to Molly-Mae after four years together
On Sunday (July 23rd) Molly-Mae and Tommy shared the news of their engagement. In a cute black and white video posted to Instagram, Tommy could be seen handing baby Bambi over to Molly, before getting down on one knee. The couple captioned the post: “Forever. 23/07/23”.
The proposal took place on a dramatic cliff-edge in Ibiza, and the couple were surrounded by rose petals.
Tommy had Molly-Mae’s favourite singer flown to Ibiza for the cute moment
Tommy arranged for Irish singer RuthAnne to fly out to Ibiza to sing her song The Vow during the proposal. The song was first used on Love Island, as the soundtrack to the highlights of their journey shown during the 2019 final. The song is now so special to the couple they also used it in the gender reveal video they posted, when they were expecting Bambi.
RuthAnne posted on Instagram about how special it was to be there with the couple at the proposal, calling it a “pinch me moment.”

She said: “A pinch me moment! Congratulations @tommyfury @mollymae on your engagement and I can’t believe I got to be there to sing your song The Vow live for this most amazing proposal (good planning Tommy).
“Molly had no idea and I know how much this song means to them and wow the most stunning location I have ever sang it in. And for the most beautiful couple. I sang my heart out just for you today. So amazing to finally meet you in person and sing this song for you. This is why I write music and wow what a moment.”
Tommy had planned the entire thing, and set up a fake brand event so Molly didn’t suspect a thing
On her Instagram story, Molly-Mae has explained just how much planning Tommy put into the engagement, and how he’d sent out a string of fake invites to a brand event, so she didn’t suspect a thing.
“Just before we were leaving for a ‘brand event’ we’d both been invited to… fake invites, fake emails, notes in the hotel room from the brand, everyone playing along so unbelievably well,” Molly-Mae said over a picture of herself and Tommy. “I’ve never known a surprise to be pulled off like this. I was COMPLETELY and utterly fooled.
“It was only when we pulled up to the ‘event’ and Tommy jumped out the car and ran off and I was handed a letter that I realised all was not as it seemed.” She shared a cute picture of herself getting ready with Bambi, and added that Tommy had also flown over her glam team and videographers.
According to an expert, the engagement ring cost £500k
Jessica Flinn-Allen, CEO of wedding and engagement ring specialists Jessica Flinn, said she estimates the engagement ring Tommy chose as being worth a whopping half a million.
“The exquisite piece features a rare 6ct oval or marquise diamond, this cut creates an elegant shape, appearing larger than other cuts of similar carat weight,” she said. “Accompanied with a halo of smaller diamonds completes the design, enhancing the size and sparkle of the central stone while giving the ring a vintage feel.
“The diamond-set shoulders extend the ring’s brilliance, leading the eye to the central gem. Platinum’s use, a durable material, makes it the ideal choice for such a substantial ring, finalising this luxurious piece.”
We even know what outfit and makeup Molly-Mae was wearing for the proposal
We are all living in the Molly-Mae effect – every outfit she wears and product she uses sell out instantly. eBay has already added some pre-loved dupes of the white jumpsuit Molly was wearing, and her makeup artist has revealed exactly what products she’d used before the big moment.
Make-up artist Hollie Flynn has said two of the products Molly used are from vegan and cruelty-free brand, ICONIC London. She was using the Super Smoother Blurring Skin Tint and the Illuminator. Molly wore the Illuminator in shade Champagne Shimmer on the night.
