UK brands’ attempts at April Fools’ Day 2025, ranked from cringiest to craziest
Anyone for some EasyJet snail ice cream?!
In case you’re too hungover to notice which day of the week it is – today is April Fools’ Day. Plenty of iconic UK brands have attempted to be funny on pull pranks on us all for April Fools’ Day 2025… to varying degrees of success. Some are super funny, but some are just downright messing with our feelings. Here are UK companys’ April Fools’ Day 2025 pranks, ranked from the craziest to the cringiest.
9. The Sun claimed Love Island was relocating to a villa in UK

Apparently ITV was cutting back the Love Island budget, so a new villa was under construction… in Essex. A very real source told The Sun: “Canvey Island was a holiday hotspot back in the 1940s so it’s not that different to Majorca, really, once they put all those neon signs up.” Sounds totally legit to me.
8. Terry’s Chocolate is launching toothpaste
10/10 would buy. I’m deeply disappointed this is just a prank. If Terry’s Chocolate launched mint chocolate toothpaste (or every a chocolate orange one?) I’d be licking it straight out the tube.
7. Apparently it will be illegal to wear shoes on trains
Today we’re announcing new measures which will see the mandatory removal of outdoor footwear on the railway.
The groundbreaking step is being introduced following a surge in reports to our text 61016 service of people putting their feet on seats.

I do get that this is an April Fools’ Day prank, and British Transport Police isn’t going to really make everyone take their trainers off. But it absolutely should be a crime to put your stinky shoes on a train seat and I am in full support of this becoming law.
6. Hot BrewDog beer will be available in pubs
BEER. BUT. HOT.
The wheel. The internet. Squirty cream. Three of man’s greatest inventions. And now, we have a fourth. Introducing Hot Beer. Like the Cold Beer you know and love. Except really, really hot.

BrewDog’s attempt at April Fools’ Day this year was to announce they would be selling hot beer. This did not seem especially wild, as in some European countries it’s quite normal to drink beer wam.
But BrewDog’s plans for distributing the hot beer across the UK really tickled me. Apparently pubs will have giant microwaves in for heating up the jugs of beer. If the beverage takes off, then BrewDog will consider launching a range of beer suitable for airfryers.
5. The London Eye is going on a world tour
I’m sensing someone on the social media time spent a very enjoyable hour making a social media for the London Eye’s world tour in the style of the iconic The Eras Tour poster. I spent a good minute contemplating the logistics of transporting the London Eye to Sydney.
4. Aldi is apparently now selling canned Scottish tap water

I lowkey expected better from the marketing team behind the #FreeCuthbert campagin. Aldi’s big April Fool’s Day prank is that the supermarket is launching a low-alcohol drink called Taps Aff – which is just canned Scottish tap water. The supermarket did a promo shoot for the fake product and everything. The thing is, I wouldn’t be surprised if this was already sold somewhere in the UK and some people were silly enough to actually buy it. I’m seen stranger things for sale in the middle aisle of Aldi.
3. Cadbury announced it will make creme egg sauce
The Cadbury social media team really earned their keep and made a whole ad of someone squirting Creme Egg On The Goo all over chips. I’m not really shocked that Cadbury would make Creme Egg sauce. In fact, I’m amazed they don’t already sell this. It would absolutely slap on ice cream.
2. EasyJet is making snail and garlic ice cream?!
I do not understand this at all. I’ve no idea why an airline would suddenly venture into food manufacturing. But EasyJet announced they will be serving a range of ice creams at London Southend, and each flavour will be inspired by a different travel destination. The Cacio e Pepe flavour is apparently inspired by Piza, and contains parmesan and black pepper. The Parisian snail and garlic ice cream has lumps of crispy sugar in to imitate the crunchy shells of snails? Erm, okay. I am deeply, deeply relieved that this isn’t true.
1. Lipton panicked the world… as an April Fools’ prank… but in March?
It should be a crime to mess with people’s feelings like this. Basically, on 18th March, Lipton dramatically announced it was culling peach iced tea due to low sales. The world mourned. Then a day later, Lipton explained it was an April Fools’ prank… but not on April Fools’ Day? I will never recover from this emotional rollercoaster.
