News of the breakup between Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn broke the internet in April 2023, when Taylor was just beginning her iconic Eras Tour. I think we all unanimously agreed that the pair would be endgame, but I guess we were all jumping the gun – we’ll never really know what went down behind closed doors. Joe Alwyn is a notoriously private celebrity, and we all definitely saw that during their very closed off relationship. Over the six years they were together, we thought they both enjoyed the privacy, but it seems like Taylor’s happy to show off her new man to the entire world nowadays, so maybe that was more of a Joe problem.

In April 2023, the month that everything went down, Emma Laird posted this pic in a photo dump titled Moments in March, leading many swifties to speculate that there was a romantic crossover between Taylor and Emma. However, this has never been proved, and there hasn’t been any further evidence to suggest the pair are together.

Attended a play adaptation of Brokeback Mountain

In June 2023, just two months after the breakup news went public, Joe attended a play adaptation of Brokeback Mountain in SoHo. Zendaya and Tom Holland were also there to watch!

This May, Joe attended the Cannes Film Festival and looked absolutely gorgeous while doing so. He was there thanks to his performance in Acts Of Kindness. No matter what went down, you can’t argue that Taylor has great taste!

Starred in two movies, one alongside Taylor’s bestie

Since the breakup, Joe has starred in two feature films, Acts of Kindness and The Brutalist. They fit his stereotype of being a bit art-house, but he seems to have killed it as usual.

Of course, being the private guy he is, he didn’t want to give too much away about his personal relationship. I’m all for people minding their business, but I’m genuinely so intrigued by the couple’s differing statements. Taylor seemed to express herself musically, but in June 2024, Joe just made a flat out comment reflecting his side of things: “I would hope that anyone and everyone can empathise and understand the difficulties that come with the end of a long, loving, fully committed relationship of over six and a half years. That is a hard thing to navigate. What is unusual and abnormal in this situation is that, one week later, it’s suddenly in the public domain and the outside world is able to weigh in.”
