Guys, Beyoncé’s Renaissance film is coming and it includes all of the album’s music videos
Get me to the cinema NOW
There’s nothing Beyoncé loves more than a surprise drop. And she sent the internet into an absolute tailspin when she suddenly released the trailer for her new Renaissance concert film out of nowhere on social media this morning. We woke up screaming.
And from the trailer, it looks like the film (titled Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé) is going to be a huge mix up of content from the humungous world tour, which came to a close after months on the road in Kansas City last night:
Basically, imagine a sort of amalgamation of behind the scenes content, home videos and, of course, the long-awaited music videos from the visual album. This is going to be huge. My Roman Empire. So, here’s everything we know so far:
So, when is the Beyoncé film actually out and how do you get tickets?
Parkwood Entertainment and AMC Entertainment have both announced Beyoncé’s Renaissance film will be in North American cinemas from 1 December. And ticket sites across the US have already started crashing with people trying to get tickets.
Annoyingly though, they’re yet to announce when the film is coming to UK cinemas like Vue and Odeon. So, we’ve just got to keep a look out for updates and be poised on the ticket websites for the foreseeable. Stress.
But what is the Renaissance film actually about and how long does it last?
Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé is two hours and 30 minutes long so there’s going to be lots to unpack. Reports are saying the film is a “backstage pass” into Beyoncé’s life, including her relationship with her daughter Blue Ivy, who danced on the tour.
It looks like we’re going to delve into the highs and lows of the tour. There’s one shot in the trailer where Beyoncé is looking quite defeated in a Covid mask. But the next shot she’s stepping into a helicopter in a jaunty hat and heels like the icon she is.
“The goal for this tour was to create a place where everyone is free and no one is judged,” she tells the camera. “Unique…Start over, start fresh, create the new. That’s what Renaissance is about.”
Does the Beyoncé Renaissance film actually include all of the album’s music videos?
A source told Variety that Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé will include highlights from the tour and also the long-awaited music videos, which were rumoured to be shot for the Renaissance visual album. We have been waiting SO long for this.
