Every cast member who has dramatically quit Selling Sunset, and their reasons why
Heather is the latest person to announce she’s left the show behind
Over the years, quite a few cast members have chosen to quit Selling Sunset and move on to other things. Some of these have been real estate agents we’ve known since day one, whilst others joined the show later on, and left after a couple of seasons.
But what reason did they all give for their shock departures? And can you remember which real estate agent quit to go to another brokerage then came back and grovelled with Jason for their job back?
Here’s a rundown of every cast member who has ever quit Selling Sunset, and what they said about their decision to do so.
Christine Quinn
Obviously the most memorable person to ever quit Selling Sunset has been queen of drama and chaos, Christine Quinn. She was on the show from the start until season five, but announced from season six onwards she would no longer be in the cast.
Christine left the show as she no longer works for The Oppenheim Group. Christine has started a new real estate brokerage, called RealOpen, with her mega rich husband. It allows clients to purchase homes using cryptocurrency.
“I had to make a business decision that was for me, so I had to terminate the contract so I could move it over to my brokerage,” Christine said on Instagram about leaving. “Why work for someone else when you can be your own CEO?”
Maya Vander

Since Maya appeared on Selling Sunset, she was always known as the less dramatic real estate agent. She never argued with the other agents, and hardly ever divulged into her family life.
After five seasons, Maya made the decision to quit Selling Sunset. “I decided not to go on with the show and it was not an easy decision,” she wrote on Instagram at the time. “Being a part of such a successful hit is absolutely amazing and I am so grateful.”
Her choice came as she relocated to Miami and launched her own team, the Maya Vander Group. Maya works out a different brokerage office in Miami. She also decided to focus more on her family – and now has three children, after welcoming a baby this year.
Davina Potratz
Ahead of Selling Sunset season four, it was revealed Davina had left The Oppenheim Group. In the first episode of the fourth season, Jason Oppenheim said he was hiring for Davina’s replacement, after she announced she’d be leaving the real estate company and moving on to new things.
Davina ditched the business to join another brokerage, Douglas Elliman, which is a rival real estate agency in Beverly Hills. She claimed the firm presented her an offer she couldn’t refuse. “It was a purely business decision,” she said at the time.
But, in a dramatic turn of events, Davina asked for her job back from Jason, and returned. She’s hardly ever in the show anymore, though. Savage.
Vanessa Villela
Vanessa wasn’t on the show for very long, before deciding to call it a day. She joined the show in season four, and come season six has already ended her time at The Oppenheim Group.
Vanessa has rejoined the LA brokerage where she began her career. She works at The Agency, founded by Mauricio Umansky, which is the brokerage Selling Sunset spin-off Selling The OC is based around.
“It feels like home,” she told PEOPLE. “I came back because I’m very serious about where I want my real estate career to go. I know that this is where I have to be to succeed in real estate. It felt right, I always missed them. I feel in my heart it’s where I belong. The minute I walked in, everyone welcomed me so beautifully.”
Brett Oppenheim
In the third season, it was announced Brett would be leaving The Oppenheim Group. Confirming the news, Jason told The Tab it was purely about work, and nothing personal between the twins. “We are extremely close and there are no issues in our personal relationship,” he said.
Brett left the group to start his own brokerage. He also offers masterclasses in real estate, via his swanky website.
Heather Young
There were rumours Heather had left the show when she didn’t appear on the poster advertising season seven. At the time, Heather laughed it off, and said she wasn’t appearing on the show whilst she was on maternity leave.
However, she has since posted on TikTok to say she won’t be coming back and has quit Selling Sunset. In a video captioned “everything happens how it’s meant to” Heather shared some of her best bits from the show.

She added: “It’s bittersweet to not be a part of SS anymore. But I do know that good or bad I wouldn’t change the experiences I had.”
