I'm coming back for you baby TikTok

Here’s the huge bop of a song behind the ‘I’m coming back for you baby’ sound on TikTok

Another win for Carly Slay Jepsen!

Another day, another TikTok sound that refuses to leave my head and my heart – and this time it’s the “I’m coming back for you baby, I’M COMING BACK FOR YOU” that has set up a permanent residency in my mind. It’s a campy and catchy little line, and the great news is it’s a real song that’s just as good as the viral sound itself.

Everyone say thank you to Carly Rae Jepsen

Our Call Me Maybe queen isn’t taking her foot off the gas with her latest album The Loneliest Time, which incidentally is named after the song behind the “I’m coming back for you baby” TikTok sound. The title track that’s gone viral on TikTok is a retro and campy disco bop that features vocals from Carly’s fellow Canadian Rufus Wainwright.

Is this song a Christmas song? I think I’ve decided it is. Perhaps unofficially, but there’s something infinitely festive about the whole affair. The video looks like it’s a scene from The Nativity too which only adds to the yuletide spirit.

Okay, but why’s it gone viral?

Everyone on TikTok is using the sound to come up with their best memes, and like always the studenty ones are the funniest. I particularly adore the one about leftovers, and the one about uni work. It’s so accurate that it feels like a real personal attack. Here are some of the funniest examples:

My toxic trait is always thinking im gonna eat leftovers for lunch the next day but never doing it #carlyraejepsen #salad #leftovers
