Whilst TikTok is increasingly becoming heralded as one of the more important educational resources for young people around the world, the latest hack has to be one of the most important of them all, and it’s called the TikTok photo editing trick. You’ve likely seen it – changing a whole load of settings, people take a photo of themselves from boring and washed-out to a luminous, bronzed masterpiece.

However, whilst this is all well and good, most of the video tutorials go through the steps really quickly. So, how do you do the TikTok photo editing trick? Here’s a handy step-by-step guide.

How do I do the TikTok photo editing trick?

So, you’ve seen the videos and you want to do the TikTok photo editing trick for yourself. You may well have noticed from videos of TikTokers replicating the effect that there is absolutely no point turning the exposure and brilliance up to 100 because they get turned right back down to zero at the end, but anyway – open up the photo editor on your iPhone and dial in these settings:

  • Exposure – 100
  • Brilliance – 100
  • Highlights – minus 35
  • Shadows – minus 28
  • Contrast – minus 30
  • Brightness – minus 15
  • Black point – 10
  • Saturation – 10
  • Vibrance – 8
  • Warmth – 10
  • Tint – 39
  • Sharpness – 14
  • Definition – 23
  • Exposure – 0
  • Brilliance – 0

And that’s all there is to it! I tried the edit out for myself to see just how amazing the results were, and was actually quite impressed:
