Scientists reckon they’ve worked out what makes the perfect penis

Apparently it’s not length

“Cosmetic appearance” is the most important factor for an ideal penis – not length – according to intrepid scientists.

Pube length, penis skin and girth rank next in what girls find attractive in the downstairs department.

But length is only the sixth most important criteria, closely followed by the unpopular scrotum.

Unsurprisingly the factor girls care about the least is the meatus, which is the vertical split at the opening of the urethra.

Girls care more about how your penis looks than how big it is

Researchers at the University of Zurich asked 105 women from different age groups for their preferences on male genitalia.

The scientists say their length discovery “confirms previous studies which have found most women find penile size unimportant or even totally unimportant.”

It also revealed the majority of women are satisfied with their partner’s penis size.

The phallus researchers wanted to find out if men suffering from a condition called corrected hypospadias – which means having their urethra in the wrong place – would be seen as “abnormal” by girls.

This is where the urethra – the place men urinate from – comes out somewhere on the shaft or even the base of the penis, instead of at the tip.

Some of the men in the study have had surgery for the penile condition, and the researchers were keen to find out if women could spot the difference between those who had undergone the treatment and those that had not.

But the findings found girls care more about pubic hair and the way a penis looks.

Length might not be important, but this is a bit too long

The women were asked to rate the importance of eight penile aspects, including girth, length and cosmetic appearance.

They were also asked  how normal they found the appearance of two sets of photos – one of men who’d had surgery for hypospadias and one of men with circumcised genitals.

Circumcised men were chosen as controls because without foreskin they have a similar penile appearance to those with the condition.

According to the survey, the older and more sexually active a woman had been, the more accepting of the condition she was.

Earlier this year, scientists revealed what is considered normal for penis size and length.

The average length of an erect penis is 5.2 inches.

Meanwhile, the average length of a flaccid penis is 3.6 inches and 5.2 inches when flaccid but stretched.

And when it comes to girth, the average erect circumference was 4.6 inches (11.66 cm) and 3.7 inches (9.31 cm) when flaccid.

They also found a small link between the erect length of a penis and a man’s height.

Lead author Dr David Veale from the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience at King’s College told the Mail Online: “Men compare themselves in locker rooms and with pornography on the internet and believe they are inferior.

“Some men have been teased by sexual partners about their length.

“There are lots of men who might be worried – and we think reassuring men they are in the normal range will help.”
