‘The nearest to pure evil’: Piers Morgan reveals his most terrifying interview ever

Even he has a limit

Piers Morgan has made a career out of grilling some pretty intense people, but even he has a limit. And apparently, one interview left him more shaken than anything else he’s done.

Speaking to GQ Magazine, Morgan opened up about the one person who genuinely made him feel unsafe, and it wasn’t a Hollywood A-lister or political heavyweight.

Instead, it was Erin Caffey, who he met while filming a documentary about women in prison. According to Morgan, the encounter was unlike anything he’d experienced before.

Caffey was still a teenager when she became involved in a horrific crime that shocked the US. The case centred around a brutal attack on her own family, which left her mother and two younger siblings dead. Her father survived, despite being seriously injured.

When Morgan came face to face with her behind bars, the atmosphere clearly stuck with him. He remembered thinking: “My God, you’re probably the most dangerous person I’ve ever been this close to in my life.” What unsettled him most wasn’t just the crime itself, but how composed she seemed while talking about it.

During their conversation, Caffey reflected on what had happened, saying: “I was shocked, angry and hurt… When I look back on it now, this was all just stupid. I mean, for what?” Even with that sense of regret, the whole interaction clearly left a lasting impression.

It’s not the only time one of Morgan’s interviews has gone seriously off the rails, either. He also recalled a chaotic live TV moment with Robert Blake, which quickly turned tense.

According to Morgan, Blake became so unpredictable that security had to step in mid-interview. “It was so bad, the security guys… came onto the studio floor and were all standing there with guns,” he said.

Safe to say not all interviews are just awkward silences and dodged questions.
