Mr Beast spills details of ‘real life’ Hunger Games contest with whopping $1 million prize

The contestants would fight with laser tag weapons

Mr Beast has announced plans to film a “real life” Hunger Games competition, with a huge $1 million prize money. Yup, really.

Mr Beast shared on Today that following the success of his Squid Game YouTube video, he wants to do something similar, but inspired by The Hunger Games books and films.

“So obviously, we won’t kill people. I’ve been sitting on this idea where if you potentially grabbed 26 random people, put them on an island, and then not use real weapons, maybe like laser tag, or something like that, and the last remaining one wins $1 million, to recreate the Hunger Games in real life.

“I think that would absolutely crush, because we recreated Squid Game, we also rebuilt Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory, and we gave away golden tickets, and people loved it. So, a lot of the time we bring these fictional ideas to life, and people love seeing it.”

Mr Beast didn’t announce exactly when this would be happening, but he does seem to have thought through some of the details. He said: “We’d have helicopters fly over, and the 26 people have to parachute down onto the island.”

Now, all nerds can inform you that the Hunger Games contestants don’t compete for a specific cash prize. And there are usually 24 children competing, not 26 adults. And the games don’t regularly take place on islands. Or involve helicopters. But an ultra-rich American man making people to fight for the entertainment of the masses is very much in keeping with the tone of The Hunger Games. So maybe we can forgive Mr Beast for having not done all his research yet?
