People are dragging Disneyland’s newest attraction, that ‘looks nothing like’ Disney icon
‘That’s not Walt Disney, that’s Dalt Wisney’
Some people just love to hate on Disney, and now it’s their Walt Disney animatronic that’s getting ripped to shreds online.
Last time, people were dragging the “deluded” new “Key to Disneyland” experience, where you buy a giant plastic key and insert it into various locks around the park.
This month, it’s a different attraction at the California park that’s getting criticised. However, others are defending the futuristic technology, which is still pretty impressive.
Disneyland installed a new Walt Disney animatronic
On 17th July, a new Walt Disney animatronic made its debut as part of the popular “Walt Disney – A Magical Life” attraction at Disneyland, to celebrate the park’s 70th Anniversary.
Basically, they made a realistic, automated figure of Walt Disney himself that moves, walks and talks in his real voice using old archived recordings. Except, it’s not actually that realistic at all.
@realmousevibes FIRST EVER WALT DISNEY audio animatronic! ✨ “Walt Disney- A Magical Life” is a brand new attraction here for #Disneyland70 featuring Walt Disney as an audio animatronic ✨ Walt’s animatronics speech is made of different types of presentations and interviews from Walt’s past. ✨ This is the first time ever Disney Imagineering created a sit-to-stand motion for an animatronic. Imagineering believes this is the most fluid motion animatronic ever built ✨ This has been in development since 2018. Imagineering worked closely with The Walt Disney Family Museum and meticulously studied Walt’s movements, gestures, etc ✨ Guests can see this starting July 17th in the Main Street Opera House. After The 70th celebration, This will be in rotation with Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln on a rotational stage. It’s kind of fun to do the impossible ✨🤩 Hosted by @Disney Parks
Some people are dragging it, because it ‘looks nothing like him’
Videos of the new experience, which is in Disneyland’s Main Street Opera House, have gone viral online and people are dragging it. Why? Well, because they claim it doesn’t actually look anything like Walt Disney.
“He looks nothing like Walt Disney,” one person said, while another agreed: “It’s 2025 they could do a better job.” Someone else joked: “That’s not Walt Disney, that’s Dalt Wisney.”
“I don’t know who that man is, but it ain’t Walt Disney… who signed off on that? Disney’s walls have Photos of Walt EVERYWHERE. How did this get through?” another comment said.
People think the animatronic doesn’t even sound like Walt Disney either, and are even criticising the words the figure says. He talks about the things he “doesn’t do” rather than the achievements he made.

“Back to the drawing board! This doesn’t look like him and definitely doesn’t sound like him. I grew up watching the real Walt Disney every Sunday,” someone else commented.
Another added: “It doesn’t even look like him and out of all of the things he could say they chose this? Do they hate Walt Disney or what?”
Others are commenting on the fact that Disneyland’s US Presidents and Avatar animatronics look really great, so they clearly are capable of creating an accurate portrayal. This one was just a little… off.
@the.socal.local Disneyland unveiled a new marquee attraction starring a robotic version of Walt Disney. It was seven years in development and was delayed several months so Walt Disney Imagineering could continue to work on the Audio-Animatronic figure of the park’s visionary founder. “Walt Disney – A Magical Life” will debut to the general public on Thursday, July 17 — the 70th anniversary of Disneyland’s grand opening in 1955. Others are defending the ‘impressive’ Walt Disney attraction
However, others think people are being too harsh and are defending the animatronic, which is still really impressive even if they didn’t get the face quite right.
“Guys, it’s an animatronic, it’s not going to look EXACTLY like him. I still really like it,” someone said.
Another agreed: “I don’t really think the face looks like him, but the realism on this is fascinating. Moves just like a real person.”
“I don’t get the hate. This is extremely impressive, thinking of how far animatronics have come,” someone else agreed.
Disneyland’s animatronics are made by Walt Disney Imagineering, who handle the overall design and development of all rides and attractions at the parks, and ensure the magic is kept alive.
