NYC shooter left chilling note with final request after killing four and taking his own life
The note was found on his body
On Monday, 27-year-old Shane Devon Tamura walked into an office building in New York City, where he killed four people with an M4 rifle before turning the gun on himself.
At 6:30 pm yesterday, the Las Vegas resident entered 345 Park Avenue, home to businesses such as the NFL, Blackstone and KPMG. He killed one man upon entering, Didarul Islam, a NYPD officer who was working security for the building, before turning the rifle on a woman hiding behind a pillar. On his way to the elevator, he shot another security guard.
It was revealed on Tuesday that Shane Devon Tamura intended to attack the NFL offices, but after taking the elevator to the wrong floor, he shot and killed another person before taking his own life.
According to an ESPN reporter, Jeff Darlington, this NFL security alert was sent to employees: “Do not exit the building. Secure your location and hide until law enforcement clears your floor. Please switch phones to silent.”

Amidst the devastating fallout, with one person in the hospital in critical condition, New York City Mayor Eric Adams revealed that a note was recovered from Shane Devon Tamura.
“He did have a note on him. The note alluded to that he felt he had CTE, a known brain injury for those who participate in contact sports,” the mayor said.
According to CBS, the note read: “Study my brain please I’m sorry Tell Rick I’m sorry for everything. Terry Long football gave me CTE, and it caused me to drink a gallon of antifreeze. You can’t go against the NFL, they’ll squash you.”

CTE, or chronic traumatic encephalopathy, is a brain injury that is caused by repeated trauma to the head. It’s been linked with behavioural problems and mood issues, which coincides with reports that Shane suffered from a “documented mental history.”
Sources told CNN that Shane played competitively in his youth, and the NFL offices were his intended target.
“He appeared to have blamed the NFL for his injury,” the mayor added.
