These mistakes prove everything in Squid Game actually was Gi-hun’s fault

There were so many other ways to end the Squid Game

Gi-hun spends a good chunk of Squid Game season three beating himself up for the failed rebellion and Jung-bae’s death. But, everything in Squid Game season three kind of is Gi-hun’s fault. Here are three huge mistakes Gi-hun made which led to everything going so wildly wrong.

1. He really should have slid into Jun-ho’s DMs earlier

Ah, imagine if Jun-ho and Gi-hun had combined their two brain cells back in season one. When Gi-hun returned to the Squid Game, he could have worked with Jun-ho and they might have managed to achieve something. Why didn’t Jun-ho and Gi-hun use a tracking device back then? Or just turn on Find my iPhone?

If Gi-hun was hardcore researching the Squid Games for two years, how did he not come across Jun-ho doing the exact same thing? If they’d teamed up sooner, they could have come up with a way better plan to take down the Squid Game. Jun-ho could have actually done something useful instead of faffing about on a boat for two seasons. I get that the police and the media might not have believed Gi-hun or In-ho’s individual tales about the Squid Game. But two people with similar stories might have gained attention. Maybe someone else cares about these 455 people who go missing at the same time annually?

2. What even was the point of that rebellion?

Gi-hun, you brought that one on yourself. Just do the maths. A cluster of malnourished, exhausted rookies were never going to take down the Front Man’s near unlimited supply of trained fighters in pink onesies. If he wanted to get Jung-bae out, he should have tried bribing some of the guards with his whopping fortune. We know they’re prone to corruption, eager to make extra cash, and skilled at smuggling out the bodies of contestants who aren’t quite dead.

3. He should have just killed everyone the night before the final game

Remember when the Front Man handed Gi-hun a knife, and promised that if he slit everyone’s throats while they slept, he and the baby could win? Obviously, Gi-hun should have taken him up on that offer instead of pretending to have principles. Insisting that he isn’t a killer is just a flat-out lie at this point. Babe, you’re responsible for the deaths of everyone in the rebellion, and we all saw you murder Dae-ho. You’re still causing these people’s deaths, whether you beat them in a game or stab them personally.

Like, what did Gi-hun expect to happen if he didn’t sneakily kill all the other players the night before? Did he think everyone would get to go home and live happily ever after? Did he not catch the last 21 episodes of this show on Netflix?

If Gi-hun had just killed his rivals in advance, the same people would have died. But Gi-hun would have lived, and his daughter would still have a dad. And the baby could have been raised by someone responsible instead of being looked after by the Front Man and then randomly dumped on Jun-ho, who is definitely not a qualified parent. Jun-ho is not capable of backing up his camera roll, let alone child-rearing.

Gi-hun had no way to know Front Man would rescue the baby if he died. Really, based on literally everything Front Man has ever done, he was far more likely to get rid of her. Going into the final game with the baby was just daft.
