All the ways Gi-hun could have saved everyone in Squid Game 2, but chose not to
Maybe Gi-hun is the real villain
Squid Game has been one of the best yet most frustrating shows on Netflix. The characters are brilliant and the plot is unforgettable, but there have been so many story errors that would require literally one ounce of common sense to solve. Gi-hun, while we love him, has been incredibly problematic in Squid Game 2 for that very reason. Here is a list of every time Gi-hun could have saved everyone in Squid Game 2, but just didn’t.
He could have used more than one tracking device
Gi-hun really should have taken some notes from Dwight Schrute and used more than one tracking device. He could have kept it a secret between just him and Jun-ho because realistically he doesn’t really know any of the people he’s working with. Like come on, use a bit more common sense here!
Gi-hun could have had literally one ounce of scepticism in him
If Gi-hun had been a little bit more sceptical after everything he’d been through in the games before, everything would have been different. He should have been sceptical of Jun-ho for “not remembering” who shot him, he should have quizzed Captain Park a lot more and he DEFINITELY should have questioned player 001. He is literally responsible for his own demise.
He could have gone to the police with Jun-ho as a witness
Most Read
You can shout this idea down, but if both Jun-ho and Gi-hun had gone to the police as witnesses, they could have presented a united front and maybe gained some traction. Instead, they went in alone and very silly.
Alternatively, he could have gone to the media
Why did it never cross Gi-hun’s mind to go to the media about this? Every year there’s 455 people that disappear from their families’ sight and never return, and nobody’s questioned why? Gi-hun could even use the money he won to spread awareness about the games, and get people to believe that they’re real. The police might then be forced to investigate which could shut the games down forever.
He could have begun attacking the Os first
Like the first season of Squid Game, the second season takes a long time for the internal player fights to kick off. If Gi-hun was one step ahead of the game, he could have quietly taken out some of the leaders of the Os. It’s hard to tell which way this would have gone, but it’s an idea he could have tried instead of being utterly useless.
Gi-hun could have bribed the guards
As we know from Squid Game 2, the guards are all just regular people like Gi-hun and his friends who are trying to pay a debt. He literally has 45.6 billion won just sat in his motel, so why doesn’t he put it to good use? Bribe the guards, get them to evacuate everyone and destroy the games. Money is what they’re there for in the first place.
Hell, he could have bribed all the players too
Did it really never cross Gi-hun’s mind that he could have bribed everyone in the building? If they believe he’s a previous winner, they’d believe he had the 45.6 billion won. There’s no reason this plan wouldn’t work.
