The UK government says this random household item could be crucial if WW3 actually happens

Tensions are rising worldwide amid fears that WW3 could break out in the near future. Ongoing conflicts, particularly between Iran, an ally of Russia, and Israel, have escalated in recent weeks. In fact, a Russian general recently claimed that WW3 has already begun, urging increased military preparedness.
Against this unsettling backdrop, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has warned that nuclear threats to the UK are “growing.” Part of the statement read: “The threat to the UK and our allies from nuclear weapons is once again growing.”
This rising danger has prompted the UK government to urge citizens to “actively prepare” for emergencies. This includes the possibility of war reaching British soil.
As part of the government’s ‘Prepare’ campaign, it advises households to put together a “grab bag.” It is a collection of emergency supplies that can be accessed quickly if you need to leave your home or shelter in place.
But there’s one household item the government singles out as particularly important

According to the UK government: “There might be updates communicated by radio during a power cut.”
In other words, a wind-up radio is essential to stay informed during emergencies when power and mobile networks could fail or become overloaded.
It further explains: “A car radio can be used, however in severe weather it might be safer to stay inside. Write down on paper the frequencies of any local or national radio stations you use for news updates.”
Along with the radio, the government also recommends keeping a wind-up torch to help you see in the dark.

So, while nobody wants to imagine war hitting the UK, having a wind-up radio in your emergency grab bag could be the one item that keeps you connected and safe when the lights go out. Hopefully, we’ll never need to use one.
