Lancaster University is one of 16 UK institutions to receive five star QS rating
It is one of only 129 universities worldwide to receive the prestigious accolade
Lancaster University has received five stars for overall performance in the latest QS rating, one of only 16 institutions in the UK to do so.
The QS rating is an opt-in rating system that assesses universities across a variety of different categories.
Five star ratings were given for teaching, employability, linguistics (in the subject rankings), facilities, good governance, environmental impact, innovation and knowledge transfer, research and global engagement.
It is known to be a very prestigious accolade from the organisation which publishes the yearly QS World University Rankings. Furthermore, only 129 universities worldwide hold this five star rating.
Some of the measures Lancaster received full marks, which contribute to these individual categories, include career support service, environmental sustainability policies, graduate employment rate and overall student satisfaction.
Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Rebecca Lingwood said the university was “delighted to receive such high scores across a diverse range of categories”.
The University of Central Lancashire also opts in for the rating, in which it gained four stars.
Both universities are in the QS Global rankings with UCLan placing in the 951 – 1,000 range and Lancaster University currently in joint 141st.
