The Black Mirror season seven cast is seriously stacked so here’s where you know them from
Season seven might be the most star-studded yet
Black Mirror is back on our Netflix screens for season seven, and with it, a few weeks when we all toil over our screentime and reliance on technology. This season is broaching topics such as healthcare, video games, and, of course, love, so strap in for six episodes of unbridled chaos.
Though Black Mirror creator Charlie Brooker said the show is returning to its roots, that doesn’t mean they have taken their foot off the gas when it comes to casting choices. In earlier additions, we got huge names like Bryce Dallas Howard, Letitia Wright, and Daniel Kaluuya, but season seven might be the most stacked Black Mirror cast yet – take a look.
1. Common People
Common People addresses the growing concerns of medical ethics and – as usual – our reliance on technology. It follows a husband and wife who are forced to continuously upgrade a high-tech healthcare system to be able to live, eventually resulting in desperate attempts at getting money and what looks to be a suicide pact at the end. Helming the episode is Rashida Jones, Chris O’Dowd, and Tracee Ellis Ross.
Rashida Jones should need no introduction. She’s obviously most famous for her roles in The Office, playing John Krasinski’s girlfriend before Pam, and later Parks and Recreation, where she took on a more central role. Meanwhile, Chris O’Dowd has been a mainstay in Hollywood for a number of years, appearing in Bridesmaids, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, Thor: The Dark World, Epic, and This Is 40.

THEE Tracee Ellis Ross, the original nepo baby and daughter of Diana Ross, is just about perfect in everything she’s lent her talents to. She’s most well known for her role in Black-ish and, later, the spin-offs Grown-ish and Mixed-ish.
2. Bête Noire
Bête Noire is not packing as many huge names, but it more than makes up for it with the powerful story as main character Maria seemingly sees things other people don’t.
Maria’s actress Siena Kelly is a real up-and-coming star, having appeared in many British projects such as Adult Material, Domino Day, and Temple. Other stars include The Alienist’s Rosy McEwen, My Lady Jane’s Michael Workéyè, and Ben Bailey Smith, who you might recognise from Doctor Who, Boiling Point, Fleabag, and The Inbetweeners.
3. Hotel Reverie
We’re back to the big leagues with Hotel Reverie because this black and white San Junipero-style queer romance has got some serious talent behind it – and Awkwafina.
The brilliantly talented Issa Rae features majorly in the episode, and even if you don’t know her comedy stylings, I’m betting you recognise her face from The Hate U Give, The Lovebirds, A Black Lady Sketch Show, Little, and the upcoming Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse. You’ve then got Emma Corrin, whose range should be studied in a lab. She gave a brilliant performance as Princess Diana in The Crown, but she’s also been in Deadpool & Wolverine, Nosferatu, My Policeman, and Pennyworth.
I’m not quite sure how Awkwafina managed to slip into the Black Mirror season seven cast, but she’s here! Other projects where she seemingly convinced the director she’s talented include Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Crazy Rich Asians, Jumanji, and Ocean’s Eight.
4. Plaything
For Plaything, Black Mirror season seven brings us back to the world of gaming as eccentric loner Cameron is arrested for his connection to a cold case. It’s got Peter Capaldi, from Doctor Who and The Suicide Squad, and T2: Trainspotting’s Lewis Gribben leading the charge.
Also featured in Plaything are James Nelson-Joyce from A Town Called Malice, Michele Austin from EastEnders and Holby City, and Asim Chaudhry from People Just Do Nothing. Plaything also saw the return of Will Poulter, the Marvel star’s second Black Mirror episode after 2018’s Bandersnatch.
5. Eulogy
Eulogy is being described as the best Black Mirror episode yet, and that’s partly down to the combined talents of Paul Giamatti and Patsy Ferran. Over the years, Paul has worked on dozens of TV and movie sets, from The Amazing Spider-Man 2 to The Hangover, Romeo & Juliet to The Truman Show.
Patsy Ferran is also incredibly accomplished, appearing in How to Build a Girl, God’s Own Country, and most recently, Mickey 17 with Robert Pattison.
6. USS Callister: Into Infinity
Last but not least, we’ve got USS Callister: Into Infinity, a continuation of the much-loved episode from season four, USS Callister. Obviously, you know the cast from the first episode, but here’s what else they’ve been in.
Cristin Milioti returns as the main character, and she’s been a busy bee since first stepping into her Black Mirror role in 2017. She’s been in Hit-Monkey, Bob’s Burgers, and a ton of stage shows, but her biggest role yet was undoubtedly in The Penguin as gangster Sofia Falcone. It’s truly her best work and a must-watch.
Alongside Cristin, you’ve got Jimmi Simpson from The Twilight Zone and Star Trek, Billy Magnussen from Road House and Ingrid Goes West, Milanka Brooks from Benidorm, and Osy Ikhile from Death in Paradise and Misfits.
