Ryan’s friends claim he was ‘miserable’ during MAFS Australia and they tried to get him to quit
They told him he was the ‘main star’ so should ignore the show’s rules
Ryan Donnelly’s best friends claim they were “worried sick” about him on MAFS Australia, and they kept trying to convince him to leave the experiment.
Ryan was apparently in touch with his friend Adam on a daily basis while he was filming MAFS Australia. Adam told the Daily Mail Australia that Ryan’s mood sank during the experiment. He said: “You could hear it in his voice, he was just getting worse and worse.”
He urged Ryan to “bend the rules” and spend the weekends at his home in Sydney instead of in the MAFS apartments with Jacqui. Adam says he told Ryan, “Don’t worry about the curfew, just stay the weekend. What are they going to do? Kick you off the show? You’re the main star here!”
Ryan’s friend Karla said he was “miserable” and ignored her advice to quit MAFS because he was hopeful his relationship with Jacqui would improve. She said: “He actually cared about her. Even though she was constantly making him feel worthless.”
Karla and Adam claim the MAFS Australia producers kept encouraging Ryan to stay on the show. Adam said: “They whisper sweet things in your ear.”

Neither Adam or Karla were very complimentary about Ryan’s bride Jacqui.
Adam claimed “she wanted the fame, nothing else”. He said: “She had this plan from the start. She was gonna play victim no matter what. Try to come out as the independent, strong woman – and now that the edit hasn’t gone her way, she’s completely unravelled.”

Karla believes Jacqui’s relationship with Ryan was “all an act”. She said: “She was love-bombing Ryan, then taking it away. It was all an act. One minute, she’s showering him with affection, the next, she’s throwing him under the bus on camera. It was disgusting.”
Jacqui has repeatedly said on social media that her relationship with Ryan was unhealthy. She wrote on her Instagram, “I am not playing victim. I am a victim. There is no shame on me, there is shame on you (Ryan, ESA, Channel 9) and his enablers who are continuing to enable his abuse and give him a platform to do so.” She has filed a police report against Ryan.
