From Ariana Grande to Raye: Here’s a definitive ranking of all the Oscars 2025 performances

Ariana and Cynthia’s medley could make the toughest person break down in tears

The Oscars 2025 has been and gone once more, and this year we were blessed with some stunning performances.

Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo performed, something they’d been denying doing for months. We also had a fabulous rendition of James Bond theme songs by LISA, Raye, and Doja Cat, as well as a performance by Queen Latifah.

However, finding videos of these performances is near impossible, so for those who want a rundown on these showcases, and which ones we thought stood out the most, then keep reading.

3. LISA, Raye, and Doja Cat

Three musical powerhouses came together to perform a James Bond tribute medley at this year’s Oscars, and it really was sensational. Whilst it’s third on my list of Oscars 2025 performances, by no means take that as me not seeing this as a stunning showcase.

LISA started by singing Live and Let Die, surrounded by a flurry of dancers wearing long red gowns and suits. The Blackpink singer had full command of the stage, performing exciting choreography whilst maintaining a beautiful sound.

The camera then moved across to Doja Cat, dripping in jewels, performing Shirley Bassey’s Diamonds are Forever.

It was fabulous to see Doja move over to this genre, and her voice really suited this song. She had a very theatric approach to the performance, with strong facial expressions, and she was a joy to watch.

Raye was then the third artist to perform in the medley, singing Adele’s iconic Skyfall.

The British superstar looked absolutely stunning in a floor length gown whilst she powerfully sang one of James Bond’s most well-known theme songs. Her breath work was frankly spectacular, and as usual, Raye was phenomenal in all aspects of her performance.

2. Queen Latifah

Coming in second for me, yet still sublime is Queen Latifah. This music legend performed a rendition of Ease of Down the Road from The Wiz as a tribute to Quincy Jones, who died in November.

Queen Latifah took to the stage in a fabulous metallic ensemble, performing alongside a party of backing singers and dancers. This is a dream performance for Michael Jackson fans, as Michael performed this as a duet with Diana Ross in the film.

Her rendition was wonderful, so fun and energetic, with the singer commanding the stage with her presence. The performance was sure to put a smile on everyone’s faces, yet remained a perfect tribute to the music legend that is Quincy Jones.

When the performance finished up, an image of Quincy adorned the stage’s screen. Overall, this was an exceptional performance, and gave the night’s musical showcases a fun and upbeat boost.

1. Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo

For me, the number one performance of the evening. Wicked co-stars Ariana and Cynthia performed a medley of Wicked, The Wiz, and Wizard of Oz songs.

Ariana opened the performance with a rendition of Somewhere Over the Rainbow. Donning a beautiful burgundy dress, Ariana effortlessly sang the song with a mixture of musical theatre and pop styles.

Cynthia then arrived on stage to sing Home from The Wiz. Her performance of this song was emotive, had perfect pitch, and almost sounded like a recording, it was that good.

Cynthia made singing this song look so easy, and her breath work was sensational, without a single falter.

Ariana then rejoins Cynthia on stage for a rendition of Defying Gravity, arguably Wicked’s most popular and well-loved song. Their voices perfectly worked together and one did not take the spotlight off the other. Their unison is beautiful, and the performance was chills-inducing.

As we approached the final infamous riff, Cynthia elevates on a platform with the ensemble singing from the sidelines. A perfect finish to an incredible performance.

Without a doubt, my favourite performance of the evening.
