It’s time: Here are the best and worst dressed celebrities at the Oscars 2025

Of course Julia Fox wore a naked dress covered in hair

It’s back, the Academy Awards. The most coveted award show in film took place last night in LA, and it really was something. But, many of us aren’t here for the awards but to see who was the worst or best dressed at the 2025 Oscars.

Before the show, many of the celebs in attendance took to the red carpet to show off their outfits for the evening.

Some stunned, leaving jaws dropped to the floor, but some were questionable, to say the least.

So, let’s have a look at the best and worst dressed celebrities at the Oscars 2025.

Best dressed

This is the part many of us have been looking forward to, to see our favourite A-listers and the incredible designs they’re wearing.

Ariana Grande

Ariana Grande wore a Wicked-inspired dress to the Oscars, which was a nod to her character, Glinda.

She looked ethereal in a champagne Schiaparelli ballgown, which perfectly complimented her skin tone and hair.

The gown featured a peplum bodice from which her skirt cascaded, in what appeared to be a waterfall of shimmering fabric.

For jewellery, Ariana wore De Beers diamonds, including their Midnight Aura necklace which features 74.73 carats of diamonds.

For her makeup, Ariana went for her signature half lash, and pale peach tones on her eyes, lips and cheeks. She also sported a light contour, with bronzed cheek bones and nose.

Finally, for her hair, she opted for a slicked-back updo which allowed her to show off her dress’s neckline and her stunning necklace.

Cynthia Erivo

Cynthia stunned in a bottle green Louis Vuitton gown which paid tribute to her Wicked character, Elphaba.

The dress featured pillowy, off the shoulder sleeves and a sharp collar which alluded to the iconic hat Elphaba wears in the movie.

The British musical icon paired her gown with her signature stiletto manicure, embellished with green and gold.

Speaking about her outfit, Cynthia told ITV: “I haven’t really worn much green on the carpet … and green was necessary. So this bottle green is very much like Emerald City.

“I wanted something that felt very old Hollywood, and that’s what this feels like. I look very, very special in it. We took a long time to plan it, and this is it.”

For her makeup, Cynthia partnered with Clinique, and went for a dewy base, with a dramatic lash and glossy lip. An elegant, yet striking look.

Demi Moore

Demi, without a doubt, showcased one of her best ever looks ever on the Oscars 2025 red carpet.

The actress stunned in a silver crystal-embellished Armani Privé gown, paired with Chopard diamond jewellery.

Her jewellery included a wrap-around bracelet featuring a 20-carat-emerald cut diamond, a 15-carat emerald-cut diamond, and some more diamonds which equalled 31.64-carats.

Dimitris Giannetos styled Demi’s infamous raven locks in loose curls, perfectly matching her elegant, soft glam makeup, which featured a smoky eye, and dewy skin.

Selena Gomez

For me, this is cemented as one of the ultimate best dressed looks of all season, it’s so far away from the worst category, that there are lightyears between them.

Selena’s style has been impeccable this awards circuit, and for those who thought her gorgeous SAG Awards ensemble couldn’t be topped, they were wrong.

Continuing with old Hollywood glamour, Selena wore an off the shoulder pink gown adorned with 16,000 drops of glass and crystals by Ralph Lauren.

The custom dress featured an off the shoulder neckline and was paired with opulent Bulgari High Jewellery.

Her hair was styled in a gorgeous bouncy bob, and the Rare Beauty founder focused on a nude natural makeup look with a dramatic wispy lash. Truly exquisite.

Kylie Jenner

Throughout this awards season, Kylie has been accompanying boyfriend Timothée Chalamet.

She has worn black throughout the awards circuit, with many theorising it’s so that the focus will be on Timothée not her.

For the Oscars, Kylie wore a Miu Miu dress, featuring a sweetheart neckline, and two bodice cut outs.

The gown featured intricate beading across the top, with the embellishment appearing to drip down to the lower half of the dress. Kylie then also carried a black Miu Miu bag to finish off her look.

She styled her hair in sleek bouncy waves, and opted for a natural makeup look with pale pink rosy cheeks and a nude lip.

In a photo shared by her makeup artist, Ariel Tejada, he shared a tribute to their friend, and Kylie’s hair stylist, Jesus Guerrero, who died suddenly last month.

He wrote: “Today was really hard without you, but I know how excited you were for Ky to attend the Oscars. I felt your energy guiding us today. I hope we did you proud. We love your forever.”

Storm Reid

Storm looked exquisite in a bright red Alexandre Vauthier dress, featuring a floor length cape and bubble skirt.

She paired her dress with Giuseppe Zanotti black slingback shoes, and a black and gold belt.

Her hair was pulled back into a high ponytail, and her baby hairs were perfectly placed upon her brow.

Andrew Garfield

Andrew wore two monotone suits over the course of the evening, one for the ceremony, and one for the Vanity Fair after party, and to say choosing the better of the two was hard, would be am understatement.

Andrew knew to move away from the typical black and white suit, and for the ceremony, opted for a rich brown ensemble with a silk shirt.

The colour perfectly brought out his features, and it is certain that this is his colour. There’s no doubt about it.

Andrew paired his Gucci suit with sunglasses, and brown leather shoes.

This undoubtedly was one of the best, if not the best, male looks of the night.

Julianne Hough

We couldn’t do best dressed without talking about the Oscars’ Red Carpet Show host Julianne Hough.

Julianne looked like a goddess in her Grecian-inspired gown by Dior.

The stunning nude dress looked like something Grace Kelly would wear, and was truly perfect for a night of Hollywood glamour.

The Safe Haven actress and Dancing with the Stars pro styled her hair in a bouncy bob, and went for a timeless red lip.

Worst dressed

Right, we’ve done the best dressed, now let’s looked at the worst dressed celebrities at the Oscars 2025.

Timothée Chalamet

I’ve seen a number of places put this look in the best dressed category, and only a few in the worst dressed for the Oscars 2025 but for me, there are a number of issues.

Bringing colour to the red carpet, is something many of us want to see when it comes to men’s fashion, but this time, it just didn’t work.

When in the right lighting, this yellow Givenchy suit really brought out Timothée’s complexion, but away from the red carpet, it washed him out.

The suit bottoms also gave a strange combination of suit trousers and tracksuit bottoms, then paired with a black shoe, felt jarring.

However, the Cartier jewellery he wore was fabulous. The necklace peeping out of his shirt collar, sublime, and the gold bracelets looked perfect with his suit.

Julia Fox

I’m sorry but this dress is giving taking the hair out of your shower trap and accidentally dropping it on yourself.

Maybe I just don’t have an eye for fashion but this look makes me feel itchy, and whilst I love Julia, this just isn’t it.

Adam Sandler

Before anyone comes for me, I get it was a skit, but I’m just not a fan of wearing a hoodie and basketball shorts at a prestigious event.

Adam Sandler is great, no doubt about it but he looks even better in a suit, and the Oscars feels like the time for that.

Even his pal, Jennifer Aniston, has called him out for not dressing up enough, so at least I’m not alone in my thoughts.

Sarah Paulson

Sarah has had some incredible red carpet looks over the years but this didn’t work for me.

The colour is stunning on her, yes, and the makeup and hair are beautiful but I can’t help being reminded of periods when I look at this.

I’m just not sure what is meant to be going on here, and how does she sit in this? Do you pull up the puff? Or do you just not sit?

This Marc Jacobs gown has just left me confused, and Sarah deserved better here.

Whoopi Goldberg

Right, I can see the vision, but this fabric isn’t great. The bodice looks very “meh”, and it’s a shame because Whoopi really suits this tone and the neckline looks great on her.

I love how this Christian Siriano gown is almost made to look like liquid but I just don’t think it does Whoopi or the designer’s idea justice.
