Er, Gracie Abrams is being dragged for her hot takes on adult entertainment

The pop star suggested young girls learn about intimacy from ‘a strong mentor’

Gracie Abrams has offered her opinions on intimacy and adult entertainment, and the internet has rather a lot of feelings about her views.

The singer told Cosmo: “Porn is bullsh*t. It is dangerous, not real, and a performance. It’s really dangerous for young people for that to be their introduction to sex.

“I remember growing up reading Cosmo and it being like ‘six tips to give the most rocking blow job ever’, and you’re like, ‘holy f*ck’. I had a lot of questions….I took to the internet for answers, which is frightening to think about now.

“Young people need to learn about sex from a reputable resource like Cosmo or a strong mentor, not just scrolling aimlessly online like I did.”

Many people are responding to Gracie’s comments by posting screenshots of old Cosmo articles advising young girls to use hair scrunchies and doughnuts with their boyfriends.

A lot of people do agree that it’s concerning for young people to have access to online pornogrpahy. But some people felt it was a bit inconsistent for Gracie to criticise explicit videos in an article which also featured images of her posing in lingerie. She’s literally on the cover of the magazine in a bra, with one hand positioned over her chest and the other hand lifting up her skirt.

Someone tweeted, “Then why is she posing with children’s toys in her underwear??”

A Reddit user wrote: “She too is being performative with this photoshoot and then the quote ‘a reputable source like Cosmo’.”

Others have accused Gracie Abrams of being hypocritical for saying pornography is “unreal”.

A Reddit user wrote, “Also pretty rich criticizing a ‘not real’ industry coming from someone constantly posting body checks of her abs.”

Social media users complained that Gracie Abrams was being insensitive to women who work in the adult entertainment industry.

An X user wrote: “A lot of people depend on porn for an income… let’s not degrade those people just because you don’t like it.”

“Can we not shame those in the adult film industry if it’s their chosen profession?”

The comment about young girls learning about sex from a “strong mentor” also sparked a lot of confusion.

“A young person being ‘taught’ about sex by a ‘mentor’ ? Yeah, because that’s not a recipe for disaster,” someone wrote.

Another person queried, “Who exactly is a ‘strong mentor’ in this sort of situation?”
