KCLSU is moving: Here’s what you need to know
The Students’ Union is relocating as part of the Campus Futures programme
KCLSU has announced that it will be moving location as part of the Campus Futures programme.
The programme aims to “enhance” the university and “create an environment for… students and staff to support their success.” It includes “creating high-quality facilities that inspire collaboration, innovation, and world-class learning.”
The Students’ Union, previously located in Bush House SE Wing, is moving to the King’s Building to ensure it is “more accessible and visible to all students.” As a result, most of its services will now be found on the ground floor and first floor of the King’s Building.
Here are the specific details of what is moving, and where it’s going:
- KCLSU Offices will move from the seventh floor of Bush House SE to the first floor of the King’s Building.
- KCLSU Reception will be located in KO.34. The new space will open on the 24th February, and access will be available from the Quad.
- KCLSU Informal Learning Spaces will be closed from the seventh of February. The university has not announced a replacement for these spaces, but provided a list of available spaces in the announcement on their website.
- The Student Hub will now be on the first floor of the King’s Building.
However, some aspects of the Students’ Union will remain in the original location. The Activity Rooms are set to stay on the eighth floor of Bush House SE Wing, with the Media Suite also still on the seventh floor, and the Shack Cafe open for business as usual on the ground floor.

Aside from making the KCLSU more accessible, Campus Futures has “three priority projects.” These are moving out of the Virginia Woolf Building, creating a student hub on the Strand, and King’s Interdisciplinary Science (KIS). KIS is a “major investment programme to supercharge science”, introducing new laboratories and other facilities that will help students and staff to “enjoy enhanced learning and research opportunities.”
The top two floors of Bush House SE will now be repurposed for Arts and Humanities Departments that have been relocated from the Virginia Woolf building.
