University of Liverpool up eight places in Times World University Rankings for 2025
Times Higher Education have boosted the university up from 168th in 2024
The University of Liverpool has bounced up a whole eight places in the new World University Rankings published by Times Higher Education this week.
Now sitting comfortably at 160th best-ranked university in the world, the Russell Group has also managed to find a place in the UK rankings for 2025 too – even if it has only just claimed the 20th spot.
The brand new rankings see UoL jump from 168th to 160th in the world with a rating of 61.1 as it is awarded an extra point in comparison to its score of 60.8 in 2024.
This year is their best performance in the history of the world rankings. As it should be, obviously.
According to the latest data shared by Times Higher Education, the University of Liverpool is miles ahead of each of the city’s fellow institutions, with Liverpool John Moores university being placed in the 601-800th category.
The Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts and Liverpool Hope University are also yet to be featured in the list. Ouch.
This year’s rankings were based on a number of different educational metrics, including categories of teaching, research environments and quality, industry, and international outlook. The university thrived when it came to its quality of research and international elements, with respective scores of 92.1 and 95.5.
This success has placed the University of Liverpool above multiple other universities across the country. With a placing of 20th, it pipped Durham, Exeter and Lancaster to the post when it came to taking the crown in the UK rankings.
UoL now have the likes of Newcastle, York and Nottingham above them, with sights set on Oxford and Cambridge to secure the top spots, naturally.
