Three arrested following robbery and stabbing in Glasgow’s West End

The incident left three people hospitalised and forced the closure of Argyle Street for over 12 hours


Three men have been arrested following a robbery and stabbing in Glasgow’s West End that left three hospitalised and caused the closure of Argyle Street for over 12 hours.

Emergency services were called to a property on Blantyre Street at approximately 1:10am on Tuesday 7th January 2025, after reports of a disturbance.

A 49-year-old man and a 48-year-old woman were found inside the property with serious injuries and were transported to hospital for treatment.

A 76-year-old man, who also sustained serious injuries, was taken to hospital.

All three individuals were later arrested in connection with serious assault and connection to the robbery.

Stuart Ventura, 48, appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Wednesday 9th January charged with assault during a robbery, assault to severe injury, permanent disfigurement, and robbery. Ventura, who is from Hamilton, made no plea and was remanded in custody pending his next court appearance within eight days.

Argyle Street remained closed between Bunhouse Road and Sauchiehall Street as officers continued their investigation, and a significant police presence was visible in the area.

According to STV, a Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed: “Emergency services attended the incident on Blantyre Street, where a man and woman were found injured. Both were taken to hospital with serious injuries.

“A 76-year-old man, who was also hospitalised, has been arrested in connection with a serious assault. Officers remain in the area, and enquiries are ongoing.”

The Scottish Ambulance Service reported dispatching three ambulances, a paramedic response unit (PRU), and a special operations response team (SORT) to the scene. One patient was transported to Glasgow Royal Infirmary, while two others were taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.
