This ‘detrimental Faithful’ theory proves why Dan had to be banished on The Traitors
He ruined his own game, basically
Dan was one of the most polarising players on The Traitors UK this year, and the 2025 character finally got banished on Friday. Delighting some who didn’t really like him, but gutting me – I thought he was a great personality and an interesting dynamic. Dan divided people by playing a very self interested game that ended up being his downfall, as his willingness to lie about the molasses hair saga with Minah made him look very suspicious to the other game players and gave the Traitors a great scapegoat. However, this The Traitors theory from TikTok explains how Dan had to be got rid of by Faithfuls who might not even have thought he was a Traitor.
On the podcast Talk of the Townsends, hosts Benedict and Hannah got into the elimination of Dan on Friday and the theory on why this may have been inevitable even if people didn’t think he was a Traitor. Hannah explained “Zach in a previous series said when he was voting for someone ‘you are a detrimental Faithful’, and I actually think that’s what we saw with Dan, and why he was voted out.
@talkofthetownsends Do you think it was right to vote out Dan, even if they thought he was faithful? #thetraitors #thetraitorsuk ♬ original sound – Talk Of The Townsends

“Because I think a lot of that group didn’t think that he was a Traitor. I just think that they didn’t like the way he was playing the game. And maybe it was a personality clash at times. And I think they thought we are a stronger team without you.”
Benedict explained “That’s not the worst logic in the world, because if you have a member of the group that is disrupting the harmony of the group or stopping the group from potentially getting Traitors, it’s not the worst thing to get them out even if you don’t think they’re a Traitor.
“We’ve seen it before too where people get voted out for being annoying, or being too one track minded that it’s getting in the way of everything else. If a person has such an obsession, that can also be a detrimental Faithful thing. We’re supposed to be discussing.”
Honestly, I think it makes a lot of sense. I liked Dan as a character on TV, but he must have been difficult to see eye to eye with when he was cold about his more ruthless decisions – and when he lied straight up he sealed his fate there. Because Traitors had a reason to accuse him, and Faithfuls had little reason to keep him around even if they didn’t think he was a Traitor.
