Jung-bae’s actor reveals unknown detail that makes his Squid Game death even more tragic
As if it couldn’t get any sadder
There were certainly some shocking moments in season two of Squid Game, but none of them had me more aghast than when Jung-bae was shot right in front of Gi-hun’s eyes by The Front Man.
It was honestly one of the saddest moments out of the entire two seasons of Squid Game, but now the actor who plays Jung-bae has revealed some more details about his death which makes it all the more tragic.
And yes, not only is it about his dying thoughts but also that they’re directly related to Gi-hun and I really don’t know how much more I can take before I start getting emotional.
In an interview with Tudum, the actor who played Jung-bae in Squid Game season two explained that in his last seconds, he didn’t blame Gi-hun for what happened and wished he could apologise to him.
He explained: “Things don’t work out, and so I end up getting shot. And even after being shot, I continue to look at Gi-hun until my last breath as he is in my sight.
“But even in that moment, I’m not blaming him for my death. Instead, I want to apologise for not finishing my role.”
Is someone cutting onions in here?! The fact the two of them literally made it almost to the manager’s office before he got shot is even more heartbreaking. And then it just fades to black, leaving us all in suspense for next season.

And it seems the actor for Gi-hun also wondered whether the cliffhanger was the right move for the end of season two, and expressed his doubts to Entertainment Weekly, saying: “My first reaction was, ‘How could you end the season at that point?’
“I think the audience would be dying to know what’s going to happen next and some may be very angry, actually.
“Some may even curse that it’s ending on such a cliffhanger. But I realized that a lot of people nowadays actually love bold cliffhangers.
