This resurfaced Squid Game season one detail eerily foreshadowed Gi-hun’s player number
He was always destined to play in the games
Poor Gi-hun honesty, you can’t tell me this man hasn’t been through the wringer since season one, although why he even returned for season two of Squid Game instead of staying with his daughter will always baffle me a little.
Still, the writing was on the wall since the very first episode of Squid Game that Gi-hun was literally fated to join the games and become a player. In fact, within 10 minutes of episode one, there’s a huge detail that foreshadows the Squid Game player number Gi-hun will go on to have.
In case you need a refresher on what exactly happened during the first episode, we see him betting on horses, which coincidentally plays a huge role in terms of symbolism in Squid Game.
He manages to luck out and wins a huge payday from his betting, and ends up winning a total of 4,560,000 South Korean won.
And in case that number sounds familiar it’s because it’s the amount of cash is the same as Gi-hun’s player number in Squid Game, 456. Whilst it could be a coincidence, given how many tiny details there are in both seasons one and two I think it was all planned.
This detail seems to prove that he was always going to be a player on Squid Game, and we can add it to the long list of foreshadowed moments in the series.
Another one of these moments includes the murals which appear on the dormitory walls in seasons one and two of Squid Game which foreshadow which games Gi-hun and the other contestants will have to play.
