Colleen Hoover speaks out in support of Blake Lively following Justin Baldoni lawsuit

‘Blake’s ability to refuse to sit down and “be buried” has been nothing short of inspiring’

Colleen Hoover has spoken out about the the allegations made by Blake Lively after she filed a lawsuit against her co-star, Justin Baldoni.

In a statement of support towards Blake, the author shared a photo of herself hugging the actress and praised her honesty and patience.

Colleen also shared a link to an article which broke down the alleged attempts to damage Blake’s reputation after she claimed misconduct on the set of the movie.

This comes after Blake Lively filed a lawsuit against Justin on Friday December 20th, alleging that Baldoni engaged in “inappropriate and unwelcome behaviour towards Ms Lively and others on the set of It Ends With Us”.

In a post shared to her Instagram Story, the It Ends With Us author shared a photo of herself and Blake hugging after a screening of the movie. Captioning the photo, Colleen wrote: “@blakelively, you have been nothing but honest, kind, supportive and patient since the day we met.

“Thank you for being exactly the human that you are. Never change. Never wilt.”

She then hyperlinked to a New York Times article which shared a transcript of the alleged attempts by Justin’s PR team to control Blake’s reputation following the movie’s premiere.

Titled “‘We Can Bury Anyone’: Inside a Hollywood Smear Machine”, the article outlined private messages sent between Justin and the crisis public relations expert he hired. Mr Baldoni’s legal team have since outlined that the allegations are “categorically false”.

Colleen later posted screenshots of a statement of support towards Blake, written by Amber Tamblyn, America Ferrera and Alexis Bledel.

The statement read: “As Blake’s friends and sisters for over 20 years, we stand with her in solidarity as she fights back against the reported campaign waged to destroy her reputation.

“Throughout the filming of It Ends With Us, we saw her summon the courage to ask for a safe workplace for herself and colleagues on set and we were appalled to read the evidence of a premeditated and vindictive effort that ensued to discredit her voice.”

Within the post, Colleen shared the same image of herself and Blake hugging and captioned it: “I thought the note was beautiful.”

Within the a lengthy caption, she added how she “wanted to show support but I had anxiety thinking of putting my post about Blake in my feed and sending myself into a mental spiral from the inevitable comments”.

Explaining how her attitude to social media had changed over the last year, Colleen admitted she had “pulled back” her online presence to “save her sanity”. However, she added how the statement from Amber, America and Alexis had “inspired” her to stand up for herself.

In the post, which has since been liked by Blake Lively on Instagram, she wrote: “This statement from these women and Blake’s ability to refuse to sit down and ‘be buried’ has been nothing short of inspiring. Seeing these three women stand up for their friend when they know good and well they’re going to be ripped apart by the people who choose to not accept or read receipts is inspiring.

“I am done being afraid to post in fear of the comment section hurting my reputation.”

Addressing questions of why she hasn’t released another book, Colleen explained that her hiatus is due to harsh reviews and comments online: “The answer is simple. We have become a cruel society of judges who expect perfection and have very little grace, and will comment with everything wrong we can find. It’s sad but it’s true and we have all been victims of it. And I don’t know how or when or if it can change, but I know that I can change my attitude toward it.”
