Here’s your ultimate guide on how to best spend a weekend in Leeds
Our Sunday morning café might just have the best tirimasu ever
As a student, it’s easy to get lazy when the only time you leave the house is to go to uni, apart from the occasional trips to Saino’s. But, come on, we can do better than that. Although it’s difficult to find the time to spend two full days out, Leeds is the most dynamic and full of life on a weekend, so it can’t be missed.
Whether you’re new to Leeds or simply need a refresher, this guide will give you some ideas on how to spend the best two days in the heart of West Yorkshire.
Saturday morning: Brunch and a stroll
Food first, always. Saturday morning (or afternoon, if you’re a night owl), head to Moose Coffee for a taste of North America, from French Toast to featured combos like Pancake Benedict. The portions are so large they will surely last you throughout the day. The café is located in the heart of the city centre, which gives you a chance to have a nice walk around town too.
Saturday afternoon: Soaking up the festive atmosphere
No Leeds weekend is complete without a night out. Start with dinner at Wetherspoons, where you can get pitcher cocktails on a deal. Then, head out to Projekt at O2 Academy for a club night, or, if you’re looking for something a little classier, check out The Domino Club, a speakeasy jazz club hidden behind a barbershop in the Grand Arcade.
Finally, finish the night off with some scran from Shawarma King for some life-saving carbs.
Sunday morning: Recovery
After a night like that, brunch is not optional. Head to La Bottega for the best tiramisu in town, as well as pastries and coffee that might just save your soul.
Loosen up with a stroll in Roundhay Park, one of the largest city parks in Europe, or check out the Leeds Art Gallery if you still have the energy to pretend you’re cultured.
Sunday afternoon: Docks and lunch
Wrap up the weekend at Leeds Dock, a waterfront destination with a picturesque canal and a community feel. You can even take a water taxi with a scenic ride for just £3.
For lunch, head to Belgrave Music Hall & Canteen to get a pizza the size of your head, with a live band playing in the background if you’re lucky.
Tip: Half-price slices in the afternoon!
So, here’s your sign to try a few new things in Leeds instead of spending the weekend in Eddy B. Only joking, we knew you weren’t going to do that anyway.
