Haliey Welch aka the Hawk Tuah girl has been involved in a death hoax where people online, especially on X, were claiming she had been found dead at the age of 22.
However, these rumours are not true and she’s very much alive and well but what was the death hoax about Haliey Welch aka Hawk Tuah girl being dead even caused by in the first place? Let’s find out.

The rumour about her death first originated on X where an account with over 24,000 followers posted a statement saying: “Breaking News: Hailey Welch found dead at the age of 22.” This tweet has now been removed, however.
It seems the hoax about her death stemmed from a combination of backlash from those who bought her cryptocurrency and the fact she hasn’t posted anything on her social media since then, leading people to spread the rumour she’d died.
But she’s very much alive and well it just seems she’s taking a break from social media after the controversy around the meme coin.

Haliey announced she would be releasing her own cryptocurrency Bitcoin called $HAWK, telling Fortune that the choice wasn’t “just a cash grab” and instead something to change people’s perception of cryptocurrency.
The coin was launched on Wednesday at a price of $0.005492, and quickly rose over 900 per cent in value before crashing by 91 per cent. The change meant its value went from roughy $490 million all the way down to $41 million, leaving a lot of buyers with a serious loss in profits.
One buyer angrily tweeted at Haliey: “I am a huge fan of Hawk Tuah but you took my life savings. I purchased your coin $Hawk that you were so excited about with my life savings and children’s college education fund as well.”
Due to how quickly the Hawk Tuah Bitcoin plummeted in value, some investors are now claiming Haliey carried out a rug pull, which involves the creator of said cryptocurrency selling their stock once the value peaks, leading the price to crash and leaving everyone else out of pocket.

Some who invested in the coin have even claimed they have filed complaints with the US Securities and Exchange Commission, and since rug pulls are illegal she could be facing serious charges.
However, Haliey has now denied any accusations of selling her stock, as well as insisting none of her team sold any of their tokens.
She released a statement saying: “Hawkanomics: Team hasn’t sold one token and not 1 KOL was given 1 free token. We tried to stop snipers as best we could through high fees in the start of launch on @MeteoraAG. Fees have now been dropped.”
