Not that you asked, but here’s your guide to the best Wetherspoons in Leeds
From a cosy daytime study spot to a pub quiz at night, Spoons is a versatile icon
There are six main Spoons in Headingley and Leeds city centre, all of which have very different atmospheres and cater to different needs.
Whether you’re in search of a lively pub quiz night, a budget-friendly meal, or a laid-back spot to sip coffee and cram for deadlines, there’s a Spoons for every occasion.
So, let this be your go-to guide for all the Leeds Spoons and how to make sure you find the one that fits your vibe.
The Golden Beam: A cosy hangout for a chill evening
The Golden Beam provides the perfect cheap drinking spot for Headingley locals, complete with pretty fairy lights in the garden.
It hosts quiz nights on Wednesdays for just £1 per person with cash, drinks and shots up for grabs.
The cheap Wetherspoons food menu provides nearby residents the perfect hangover breakfasts post-Otley Run.
The quieter seating upstairs can also be a perfect study spot during the day with refillable, unlimited £1 coffee to get you through those text books.
Pro tip: It is one of the only pubs in Headingley not currently on the Otley Run, so it is easy to get into on the weekend and you can avoid the chaos.
Stick or Twist: A freshers’ haven in the city centre
Stick or Twist is a city-centre-based Wetherspoons, sharing the same building as White Rose accommodation. It’s a great spot for pres before going to the nearby clubs or the First Direct Arena.
Despite being busy in the evenings, during the day it’s a quiet hangout for a quick drink with friends or a cheap meal when you’re too lazy to cook at home.

The Cuthbert Broderick: For a cocktail evening with a city view
The Cuthbert Broderick provides ample outside seating with lovely city centre views, situated right by the Leeds City Museum in Millennium Square and O2 Academy.
So, if you’re looking for a venue for some night-time garden drinks, pres for the O2 Academy or a quick trip post-Bongo’s Bingo, this is it.
Plus, this Spoons is a great boozy brunch spot, with two cocktail pitchers for £12 and cheap, hearty meals. As an ex-Wetherspoons employee, I can confidently say pitchers should not be overlooked.
The Hedley Verity: A pub for partygoers
Otherwise referred to as “Party Spoons” or “Disco Spoons”, the Hedley Verity stays open until 2:30am on Friday and Saturday nights.
The unassuming pub transforms into a club-like atmosphere, with music all night and a dance floor as the sun sets.
With an upstairs and downstairs bar, in addition to the staple Wetherspoons app ordering service, quick access to drinks is a given.
The upstairs area has great views over the downstairs dance floor too, for anyone who feels like escaping the chaos while still being immersed in the party vibes.
Beckett’s Bank: A drink break for avid shoppers
Located right by Trinity shopping centre, Beckett’s Bank is the perfect Spoons to stop off during a long shopping spree.
And being opposite the School of Law building, students can conveniently nip over the road for a post-lecture pint and burger.
This is your go-to Spoons for a city centre trip.
Leeds Station Wetherspoons: A pint for when your train is cancelled
The train station spoons, open from 7am till midnight, is great for a pre-trip pint and meal for when your journey is delayed.
You can’t fault the convenience, and I’m always down for a pint and a wrap.
