Revealed: The Russell Group unis where students use the most weed
Lots of stoners in Sheffield, apparently
Weed is easily the most popular recreational drug among UK uni students. 43 per cent of UK uni students use weed on a regular basis, according to The Tab’s investigation.
The Tab surveyed almost 7,000 students from unis across the UK about drugs and vaping. Conclusion: Students get high a lot. Interestingly, students are consuming weed at very different levels across the country. Here’s a ranking of Russell Group unis by how much weed the students are consuming.
The students at the University of Cambridge get stoned the least. I guess they’re too busy writing 1,000 essays a week?
It turns out that the stereotype of Manchester being the party uni is totally true. Manchester is officially the druggiest uni in the UK – 90 per cent of students there have taken recreational drugs. It’s no surprise that the students there get through more weed than anywhere else. Students at the Uni of Sheffield and Newcastle Uni aren’t far behind Manchester.
This data was analysed by Constance Vielma. Each Russell Group uni has been assigned a “weed score” which takes into account how many students at the uni admitted to smoking weed, how often they do it, and how many students there are at that uni.
So, here are Russell Group unis ranked by how much weed the students get through:
