These uni cities have the most expensive rent in 2024 and yikes, it’s a lot
It’s a good thing that London has lots of clubs to compensate
The eye-watering expensive rent prices is one of the most stressful concerns for UK uni students in 2024.
According to NatWest’s research, the average monthly rent for UK students in 2024 is £689.43. That’s 16.5 per cent higher than last year, when it was £591.90. Yikes.
Unsurprisingly, London is the most expensive UK city to rent in. Students spend an average of £1,032 a month to live there. That’s pretty horrifying when you consider that the maximum amount for a maintenance loan that a student could get if they live away from home in London is just £13,348 for a year.
Accommodation in Sheffield is a bargain at just £481 a month. That’s just 45 per cent of what it costs to live in London.
Many of the older buildings at Russell Group unis cost lots to live in.York, Cambridge, Edinburgh and Oxford all make the top ten for most expensive rent.
