Raygun’s been offered a very random new job after her Olympics breakdancing catastrophe

A fresh start looms!

| UPDATED

It’s been a disaster for Rachael ‘Raygun’ Gunn after she has gone insanely viral for her catastrophically bad breaking routine at the Olympics, where she represented Australia and scored 0 points across the board. Like the most brutal episode of Strictly Come Dancing ever. Raygun has been in crisis since her Olympics disaster, but perhaps the disaster might end because she has now had a very random job offer that might change her fortune going forward.

The 36 year old uni lecturer has had a nightmare after her unconventional breaking routine consisting of “the kangaroo”, flopping around like a snake and doing the sprinkler move. Her defenders from Australia have hailed her the epitome of “having a go” at something, which I think is all well and good for a school talent show but perhaps not the best on the Olympics world stage.

Well, now she has another venture to pivot to. After a satirical post went viral saying “Olympic breakdancing hero Raygun gets surprise call up to Australia’s one day cricket team”. Obviously it was a joke, but the actual Australian women’s cricket team reshared the post on its Instagram saying “welcome anytime, Raygun”. So at least she has that!

But in more serious new job after the Olympics news, a marketing and PR expert has said that she could make absolute bank off sponsorships going forward – now that Raygun is a name known around all the world. Max Markson told Daily Mail Australia “She has an enormous brand. Her reputation in Australia isn’t that great, but she is famous across the world.  I don’t think everyone else in other countries is conscious of how Australians feel about her.

“I think Australian marketers will be avoiding her for that reason, but there will be somebody in this country who will go for it. She will get international offers from sports shoe brands, like Adidas or Puma, food companies like McDonald’s or KFC, electric cars like BYD, and she will get a phone company like Telstra or Optus or Vodafone. There will be other international companies that want her as well.”

See, it ain’t all bad. Any publicity is good publicity, as they say.
