Four men have been convicted following violent far-right riot in Leeds city centre
They will appear in court for sentencing tomorrow
Four men have been convicted for taking part in far-right riots in Leeds city centre.
They will appear before Leeds Crown Court for sentencing tomorrow, Friday 9th August.
Their offences racially aggravated harassment, affray and intent to stir racial hatred, BBC reports.
As of Friday 9th August, Jordan Parlour has been given a sentence of 20 months imprisonment, up to one half of which will be spent in custody.
21-year-old Sameer Ali, of West Park Drive, Roundhay, was convicted of affray, whilst 30-year-old Jordan Plain was convicted of racially aggravated intentional harassment.
Adnan Ghafoor, 31, of Spen Bank, West Park, was also convicted of affray, whilst 28-year-old Jordan Parlour of Brooklands Close, Seacroft, has been convicted of publishing written material intended to stir religious hatred.
Parlour pleaded guilty at Leeds Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday after posting abusive, threatening and insulting words on Facebook between August 1st and August 5th, in an attempt to encourage the riots and violent action.
Although Parlour was at home with a broken heel during the riots, he encouraged online far-right social media users to target migrants at the Britannia Hotel in Leeds. The hotel faced damage after rioters smashed a window using stones, forcing the manager of the Britannia Hotel to put the building into lockdown on Saturday.
All four men have been remanded in custody and are to be sentenced at Leeds Crown Court this Friday.
A 16-year-old boy from Leeds will also appear before Leeds Crown Court for sentencing on September 4th after being convicted of using threatening, abusive, or insulting words or behaviour with intent which is likely to stir racial hatred.
