Man arrested after nearly 300 cannabis plants discovered in Nottingham property

A man has appeared in court after police discovered nearly 300 cannabis plants in a Nottingham property.

Erjold Qevani, was arrested by the police after a Misuse of Drug Act warrant was executed at a property on Chilwell Road, Beeston, last Thursday.

Qevani, 25, of no fixed address, was charged with production of a class B drug, reports the West Bridgford Wire. 

He appeared in court last Friday and was taken into custody to await his next court date due to take place next month.

The District Commander of Broxtowe, Mike Ebbins said: “Drug-related crime is intrinsically linked to street violence, antisocial behaviour, theft and other serious criminality. It has a devastating impact on the lives of its victims and wider communities.

“For this reason, it is a crime priority for Broxtowe, and we are focusing a great deal of our proactive time targeting dealing and drugs offenders.” 

Warrants continue to be carried out as part of ongoing proactive work in order to tackle drug dealing within the area. The inspector continued by saying: “We continue to use a range of tactics and resources to disrupt and deter criminals who move and supply harmful drugs and to take these out of circulation.

“In addition to this, we heavily rely on the information given to us by the public, so I’d encourage anyone with any concerns about drug use and supply in their area to please report it to us so that we can investigate and act.

“We are constantly working behind the scenes to gather information about those who may be involved in drug supply, and we remain committed to continuing our proactive work to target offenders who are causing misery in our communities and bringing them to justice.
