University of Lincoln issues warning about Domino’s dip following potential contamination
The dips were handed out at the Students’ Union last week
The University of Lincoln’s Students’ Union has issued a warning about Domino’s Garlic and Herb dip following a potential contamination.
The dip in question was handed out last week by the SU as part of a Freshers’ event, and is now said to potentially contain traces of peanuts.
A message from Domino’s was sent to the Students’ Union on September 15th regarding the consumption of its Garlic and Herb dip.
It said: “At Domino’s Pizza, the quality of our products and safety of our customers is the highest priority, particularly when it comes to allergens.
“We have become aware that some of our Garlic and Herb dip and Honey Mustard dip may contain traces of peanut. This issue may impact the 25g Garlic and Herb dip pots we provide with our pizza.”
The pizza company also provided information on what to do if you have a peanut allergy, saying: “If students do have a peanut allergy, please advise them to dispose of the dips and do not consume them.”
After receiving the message, the SU posted on Instagram, telling students: “Domino’s has just informed us of an urgent recall concerning the Garlic and Herb dip” and that “if you do have a peanut allergy, do not consume this product.”
Domino’s has apologised to customers and recommended that customers with any queries should get in touch via its contact form.
The company has also now withdrawn all of its Garlic and Herb dips from sale.
According to the NHS, symptoms of a food allergy, including peanuts, can affect any part of the body, including multiple at the same time. Symptoms may include dizziness, itching of the skin, lip, face or eye swelling, coughing or breathlessness, vomiting and diarrhoea. All of which can appear immediately or even days later.
If you have an allergic reaction, the NHS recommends the use of an EpiPen or calling 999 if your symptoms worsen.
The Lincoln SU has apologised “for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate [the students’] prompt attention to this matter.”
