Here are the University of Lincoln accommodations as characters from Twisters

Time to get blown away by where you could be staying

Twisters has hit the world by storm with the new standalone sequel to the 1996 move Twister and whilst we can’t promise Glen Powell as one of your new flatmates, we are certain you’ll have have a great time chasing other freshers into the crowd to catch a duck at Quack! or in some cases… chasing them to take the bins out.

With a number of university owned halls to choose from it can be hard to choose where you want to live for the next year (or longer). Each one has it’s own personality and feel to it so we’ve broken them down into which character represents each home-from-home.

St Marks – Tyler

Via Universal Pictures/Warner Bros

Whilst the movie kept us well fed with eye-candy, it was Tyler Owens (played by Glen Powell) that stole the show. It’s clear that St Marks is by far the most visually appealing, with it only being completed last year, its modern look appeals largely to the masses. Home to flats of up to 12, with its fancy kitchens and TVs, it’s a no brainer it is the Tyler Owens of Lincoln. However, underneath its exterior, there is more than meets the eye much like the heart hidden beneath that douchebag vlogger getup Tyler is first introduced to us as. St Marks is a lively group of buildings with communal outside areas so if the good looking tornado wrangler is your type, St Marks might be your cup of tea.

Lincoln Courts – Kate

Via Universal Pictures/Warner Bros

Here us out, played by Daisy Edgar Jones, Kate Carter is the protagonist of the movie and whilst Lincoln Courts might not visually add up to the beauty that Daisy shines, it’s not about looks here. Kate is the OG tornado chaser in the movie and when tragedy struck, tornado chasing became a fragment of her past. Being the original accommodation for the uni it has had its fair share of freshers over the years, if you give it a chance and add a little touch of your own, you can’t go wrong living right on campus. If you give the og a chance, you might just have a whirlwind of a time.

Valentine Court – Javi

Via Universal Pictures/Warner Bros

Javi (played by Anthony Ramos) is one of Kate’s oldest friends who is still incredibly invested in tornado chasing. Javi works with a group of people to create storm- warning technology and likes to surround himself with likeminded people. Valentine court is notorious for its high number of medical students that live there in their townhouse inspired buildings, it’s like taking the old and making it new. Which is Javi to a T. If you want the feel of living in a house whilst living in halls around like-minded people, Valentine might be your gal.

Viking House – Boone

Via Universal Pictures/Warner Bros

Boone (played by Brandon Perea) might have been the most energetic, free-spirit in the movie. As Tyler’s right-hand man, Boone bought the hype and the energy and that is exactly what you’ll get living in Viking. With flats of up to 23 people, you’ll never be short of fun. Whilst occasionally falling into the background, Boone is an infectious bundle of energy that when around, you’ll never want to leave. With 22 flat mates, what’s another one going to matter if you find yourself waking up there after a Wednesday night Quack?

Cygnet Wharf – Cathy

Via Universal Pictures/Warner Bros

Played by Maura Tierny, Cathy is Kate’s doting mother. She lives a quiet life in Oklahoma keeping to herself and her close friends and family so if you’re looking for a more of a fresher-only place to live, Cygnet is your Cathy. With rooms only for freshers you’re guaranteed to find someone in the same position as you. Cathy is one of the many voices for climate activism in the movie, so she isn’t just restricted to her close circle. Even though you might live with only first years Cygnet is in the middle of campus and only a two minute walk from The Swan pub where you can find people of all years and courses there. If living with only first years is your dig, Cygnet is the best choice for you.

179 High Street – Scott

Via Universal Pictures/Warner Bros

Scott (played by David Corenswet) is Javi’s business partner. Despite wanting to keep Javi in business with him, despite the corruption behind Storm Par coming to light, Scott’s attitude and incessant gum chewing gave off vibes that he would work better alone, yet he was adamant that him and Javi needed to keep working together. 179 High Street can do both. With flats of up to 16 people and also the option of self-catered studios, it has the best of both worlds. Like the name suggests, it quite literally borders the High Street, so if you need to top up your gum supply all you have to do is step outside of your building and you have all the shops you can think of.

Even though Lincoln doesn’t have tornadoes to chase or hot cowboys like Glen Powell riding horses on West Common, it sure has character. No matter your budget or individual preferences, Lincoln has accommodation that will suit you every need. If you’re looking to join us in September 2024, hold on to your VKs and if you feel a duck coming, chase it 😉
