This summer’s graduation ceremonies will not be in Canterbury Cathedral
It has been announced this morning that due to the continuing extensive building work that has been taking place over recent months on Canterbury Cathedral, the University of Kent 2017 graduation ceremonies will unfortunately not be held within its walls this summer.
Although set to be completed by July Grad Week, the work has had various set backs that have encouraged an executive decision to hold all graduation ceremonies elsewhere due to health and safety purposes.
While it has a much smaller capacity and is arguably far less atmospheric and impressive – the selected building that is said to be replacing the cathedral as the location for graduation is UKC’s Rutherford dining hall, which holds a similar number of people and won’t involve considerable re-arranging of plans for the university staff and students alike.
