McCann family apparently agree to DNA test with viral girl on Instagram who says she is Madeleine

McCann family has ‘agreed to DNA test’ with viral girl who thinks she’s Madeleine

‘There is every chance it could be her, it all adds up’

Last week, a 21-year-old girl called Julia went viral because she thinks she’s Madeleine McCann – and now she is apparently getting a DNA test with either Kate or Gerry McCann, or another McCann family member. According to reports, the family of Madeleine has requested a DNA test is done after Julia’s posts claiming she has “evidence” she is the missing girl.

Speaking on Instagram, Julia has shared she has a number of physical similarities to Madeleine. Her Instagram page, @iammadeleinemcan, has a million followers and on it she has shared pictures of a spot on her leg like Madeleine’s and claimed she has a similar eye condition to Madeleine.

She previously posted on there begging for a DNA test with Kate and Gerry, to prove what she thinks to be true. “Help me, I need to talk with Kate and Gerry McCann,” her bio reads. She has now said they have agreed to do a test with her.

A source close to the McCanns has since said the claims are being taken seriously, and a test will be carried out. “The family are taking no chances, they are willing to look at all leads,” they said. “It is important they look at all of the factors, the girl does look similar. There’s no disputing that. If what she says is true, there is every chance it could be her. It all adds up.”

It is believed a McCann family member has come forward to offer to take part in a DNA test with the girl who believes she is Madeleine. A confirmed comment from the McCanns has not yet been reported.

Speaking to The Tab, Julia said she has previously reached out to the police and had no response – so this test is a big update for her. “I called my local police, Capital city police, the MET police, Portugal police and Crimestoppers,” she said. “A few months ago I talked with Operation Grange, too.” Operation Grange was set up in 2011 to look at the case of Madeleine McCann.

Julia told The Tab she has spoken to her family about her beliefs too, but they didn’t want to talk to her about it. “[My] mother didn’t want to talk about it,” she said. “She said the past is in the past and she is not going to talk about the past. She said now is the future and we should focus on the future. My dad said, ‘even if I am not your father will it change anything?’”.

Speaking on her Instagram about backlash she has received, Julia said she genuinely isn’t trying to go viral, and is posting because she does believe she is Madeleine McCann. She has also shared messages between herself and her real parents, who she says have cut her off since all of his happened.
