Here are all the outfits you should expect on the streets of Sheffield this Halloween
Will you be fitting in with the crowd in Sheffield this spooky season?
For Sheffield students, Halloween can be considered the biggest event of the year.
And, every spooky season, the mad scramble begins to ensure you rock up to that party or club night looking your best. But what outfits can we actually expect to see out and about? From the iconic and the legendary, to the pulled together last minute, here is your definitive guide to this year’s Halloween staples.
Ladybirds
It’s all over our TikTok, so I’m definitely expecting the ladybird costume to be hitting the Sheffield streets this Halloween. A cute tutu or just a red dress with wings and a touch of polka dots seems to be one of this year’s top picks. You might also see a bumblebee in tow, making for a perfect duo costume for you and your bestie.
Mermaids
This costume works perfectly for students on a budget or anyone not wanting to spend too much on single-use items. With some mystical makeup and wavy hair to top it off, you’ve got the perfect whimsical outfit that you can even reuse again on a club night.
A cat
An absolute classic. Although it’s basic, it simply never goes out of style. Anyone can grab that black dress and ears if they have them – but even if you don’t, some whiskers drawn on with eyeliner will do. A more Sheffield-specific cat might crop up in the form of a tiger, courtesy of Tiger Works, since so many students own its headbands.
Princesses

Reuse that clubbing dress, grab a tiara, and you’re good to go. Disney princesses provide an array of inspiration and options for costumes.
Most Read
Think Sleeping Beauty: A pink dress and crown, or even pyjamas (although we can’t promise you’ll be accepted into the clubs). If you want a more untamed look, go as Merida: A green dress, curly hair, and a slightly questionable Scottish accent (which only gets worse after a few drinks). And for those seeking out a true fairy tale classic, Rapunzel may be a good option. Wear a purple dress, plait your hair, and make sure you have a frying pan to fend off any grimy men.
Magic Mike
An easy costume for guys and girls alike. Throw on that white tank top, tie, backwards cap, Calvin Kleins, and unbutton those jeans. Now you’re ready to show off some moves. Sheffield’s dancefloors are definitely known for seeing shapes thrown, and Magic Mike could even make the perfect group costume – in the film they are a group, after all.
Peaky Blinders
We’re bound to see some boys sporting a flat cap and thinking they’re Cillian Murphy this year. On almost any occasion for fancy dress, men take the opportunity to become a Peaky Blinder, and they all think they look cool doing it. Halloween in Sheffield is no exception, and only time will tell as to whether this has the desired effect.
Adam Sandler
Easy, cool and nonchalant. A pair of baggy shorts and a baggy t-shirt does the job and is something many Sheffield students already have in their wardrobe – meaning it’s certain it will be seen this Halloween.
Scream

Is it really Halloween if some lads don’t throw on a scary mask and call it a day? They’ll be bound to jump out at you – so keep an eye out, but at least it’s to be expected.
Cowboys
The Wild West is definitely due a visit to Sheffield this Halloween. Cowboy boots have become a staple in girls’ wardrobes, with many societies hosting a Wild West-themed night throughout the year. This makes it an easy go-to, and it works well as a couple’s costume or for movie references like Woody and Jessie.
Prisoners
Some of these men deserve jail time for how they act, and at least this Halloween they’re being honest about it. Gaggles of men in orange jumpsuits are certain to be seen on the streets of Sheffield, but at least we’ll see them coming.
It’s absolutely fine to be predictable this Halloween; if the costumes are good, the costumes are good. That being said, we’re also bound to see some rogue outfits around Sheffield as this October comes to a close.
