Here’s where the chaotic cast of The Celebrity Traitors all went to university
The University of Cambridge to Traitors pipeline is strong
The contestants on The Celebrity Traitors are a lot better at studying than they are at banishing the correct people. Here’s a nosy look at where the Celebrity Traitors cast all went to university. So many of them went to Russell Group unis.
Alan Carr
He chose Drama and Theatre Studies at the University of Middlesex, and got a 2:1. Erm, you’d think that a degree in acting would help him pretend to be a traitor without constant giggling?
Celia Imrie
She trained at the Guildford School of Acting, which became part of the University of Surrey in 2009. The University of Winchester also gave her an honorary doctorate in 2013.
Clare Balding

Honestly, so many of The Celebrity Traitors cast went to the University of Cambridge. She originally applied for law at the University of Cambridge ‘s super academic Christ’s College in 1988, but didn’t get in. After retaking her A-Levels, she made it into the all-girls college Newnham to study English. While at Cambridge, Clare Balding rowed and was president of the Cambridge Union. Of course she was. She’s now an honorary fellow of Newnham.
David Olusoga
It’s not a surprise that he has links to, like, a gazillion UK unis. He studied at the University of Liverpool, specialising in the history of slavery. David also did a postgrad course in broadcast journalism at Leeds Trinity University. He became a professor of public history at the University of Manchester in 2019.

He also has honorary degrees from the University of Bristol, the University of Leicester, the University of Leeds, the University of Liverpool and Newcastle University. Wow, he’s really collecting Russell Group uni qualifications like they’re infinity stones.
Jonathan Ross
He studied modern European history at the School of Slavonic and East European Studied (SSEES). This became part of University College London (UCL) in 1999. He’s now an honorary fellow of UCL.

Claudia Winkleman also went to Cambridge, fyi

Kate Garraway
The TV presenter did an undergrad degree in English and history at Bath College of Higher Education, which is now Bath Spa University.
Lucy Beaumont
She graduated from the University of Hull with a degree in drama. Several years later, she struggled to find work as an actor and got a job as a cleaner of the same drama department.
Nick Mohammed

He’s the only Celebrity Traitors cast member with a STEM degree
(Image via BBC iPlayer)
He did an undergrad degree in geophysics at St Aidan’s College, Durham then a PhD at Magdalene College, Cambridge. Nick met his wife at Durham Uni. Nawww. He was part of the Cambridge Footlights, a long-running comedy society that has produced many famous actors over the years (although you wouldn’t necessarily guess that if you watched them perform).
Paloma Faith
Rip to the first victim of The Celebrity Traitors. She actually has two degrees: one in contemporary dance from the Northern School of Contemporary Dance and a Master’s in theatre design at Central Saint Martins (which is part of the University of Arts London).
Stephen Fry

The English degree explains why he felt the urge to quote Sherlock Holmes all of a sudden

He got a 2:1 in English from Queens’ College, University of Cambridge. Stephen Fry is one of those aforementioned famous actors who were part of the Cambridge Footlights. He also has honorary degrees from the University of Dundee, the University of East Anglia (UEA) and Anglia Ruskin University.
Tom Daley
No, he didn’t go to uni. He was too busy jumping into swimming pools. But he does have an honorary degree from Plymouth Marjon University.
