I’m scared, so here are the eight most dangerous places to live in the US if WW3 breaks out

America is a terrifying place right now

After Charlie Kirk’s assassination and Iryna Zarutska’s brutal murder, things are looking pretty bleak. WW3 fears have emerged once again, and these are the most dangerous places to live in the US if war does break out.

People are talking about a huge war breaking out almost every day at this point, and the scariest part is that nuclear weapons could be used.

If WW3 does happen, some US states would be a lot safer than others in the event of a nuclear attack, purely based on their location. So, it’s time to see if the place where you live is in the safe zone or not.

The eight most dangerous US states if WW3 breaks out

Newsweek looked at Scientific American’s fallout maps of nuclear attacks on missile silos in the US to see which states would be the most and least affected in a nuclear attack.

They found that these eight places would be the most affected by radiation exposure risk, and are therefore the most dangerous states to live in:

  • Montana
  • Wyoming
  • Colorado
  • Nebraska
  • South Dakota
  • North Dakota
  • Iowa
  • Minnesota

So, what are the safest US states to live in during a nuclear attack?

They deemed 15 different states at the safest in a nuclear attack, including:

  • Maine
  • New Hampshire
  • Vermont
  • Massachusetts
  • Rhode Island
  • Connecticut
  • New York
  • New Jersey
  • Pennsylvania
  • Delaware
  • Maryland
  • District of Columbia
  • Virginia
  • West Virginia
  • North Carolina
  • South Carolina
  • Georgia
  • Florida
  • Alabama
  • Mississippi
  • Tennessee
  • Kentucky
  • Ohio
  • Indiana
  • Michigan

But experts say in reality, nowhere is ‘truly safe’

However, experts told Newsweek that “nowhere is truly ‘safe’ from fallout and other consequences like contamination of food and water supplies and prolonged radiation exposure”.

“While those who live near military facilities, ICBM silos in the Midwest or submarine bases along the coasts might bear the most immediate and severe consequences of a nuclear attack, there’s no question: ANY nuclear war or weapons detonation would be bad for everyone,” John Erath, the Senior Policy Director for the Center for Arms Control and Non-Proliferation, said.
