Everything new in The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits, including a feature people have BEGGED for

The Sims is ALSO getting its own Love Island called… Love Highland

Will The Sims 4 ever stop releasing expansion packs? Will The Sims 4 outlive me, a humble nearly 30 year old? Will I be double my age and still dropping 40 quid on expansion packs for the game that has haunted my life for over a decade and never quite made me feel like it’s ever satisfying? Maybe so. Maybe bloody so. But right now, we must cast our eyes over yet another expansion pack for The Sims 4 – Adventure Awaits. And despite my numerous gripes with The Sims 4 and the permanent onslaught from EA that we must endure (and then pay for) – I have to concede that Adventure Awaits looks pretty good. Here’s everything new coming in The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits, then – because despite the moans, I unfortunately will be playing.

A new world

The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits lets you and your Sims go on getaways – different apparently to the already existing vacations you can have in the game. The location of these is to Gibbi Point. This is a new world for the game with three neighbourhoods including Wanderwoods Wilds, Crystal Valley and Jellyfish Junction. It looks alright. That’s the enthusiasm I can muster here. I do like however that there are still some residential lots here despite the fact this mode is built around getaways.

Getaways is a new system for the pack

There are seemingly different types of getaway depending where you stay. Some that have ben focussed in the trailer and promotional material include a camp for kid Sims, a romantic retreat contest vibe and a fitness retreat. There’s a new getaway system where you can play itineraries.

POOL SLIDES!

Yes guys, we are losing our minds with joy because we spotted a pool slide in the trailer. This was previously a base game item but despite the fact The Sims 4 has existed for over a decade pool slides have never made it into the game. Now you have to pay for them! Whatever.

BLENDERS

What the hell, sure

Building play areas

There’s a new feature that does actually look really cool – where you can build mode up a playground. I feel like this is probably the most interesting new feature in the expansion to be honest.

Loads of new skills

The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits is all about activities and getaways focused on activities, so it makes sense that there are loads of new skills like archery for Sims to dabble in. There’s also an imaginary friend system which looks a bit deranged to be honest – very cursed aesthetic.

Love Highland…

So, err – this pack also comes with a dating contest that is seemingly based off Love Island. I don’t know why I said seemingly, actually, because this is Aldi levels of rip off. Love Highland is shown off in the trailer as a relationship based competition where people couple up and get voted off. Rings many bells.

It also shows off Player Choice Elimination options and Cooking Competition which means it’s not just Love Island that can be replicated. You could make your own Big Brother or Bake Off type vibe. I’m honestly excited.

The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits currently is set for release on October 3rd.
