The wild nicknames for celebs in China, including Katy Perry being called ‘Fruit Sister’

Her birth name might be Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson, and we know her as Katy Perry, but I’m betting you didn’t know that people in China call the Grammy-nominated artist Fruit Sister.

According to an article from CNN, people in China like to call Katy Perry“shui guo jie,” which means Fruit Sister, because of her love for food-themed costumes. As you’ll no doubt remember, she’s sported watermelon-cup bras and burst out of a giant banana, so she must be a huge fan of fruit, right?

Funnily enough, Katy Perry is not the only major celebrity to have recieved a rather unique nickname from Chinese people.

Jennifer Lopez is called Lord of Butt

Jennifer Lopez is known for a number of things: Her shaky relationship with Ben Affleck, her desperate attempts to cling to fame, and, of course, that butt. She’s even got it insured for $28 million, so naturally, people in China have turned to calling Jennifer Lopez, “luo ba,” which translates to Lord of Butt.

The nickname is also a bit of a pun, because “Luo ba” sounds the same as how Chinese people say her last name, “Luo pei zi.”

Of course, Benedict Cumberbatch is called Curly Blessing

The nickname is taken from a popular Chinese slang phrase translated to “cow’s vagina”, sort of like the dog’s b*llocks of the East.
