21-year-old from Leeds who’s in ‘hell hole’ Dubai prison says she’s not showered for a month
She was arrested in March on suspicion of drugs charges
A 21-year-old woman from Leeds locked up in a Dubai prison on drugs charges has said she’s not been able to shower for a month.
Isabella Daggett has been living in a jail in the United Arab Emirates since her arrest in March.
She decided to relocate earlier this year for a job. However, weeks after arriving in the Gulf nation, Isabella, known by loved ones as Bella, was detained on drugs charges.
Since then, her family have spoken out about the conditions of the jail she’s been locked up in.
Speaking to the Mail Online, Bella’s grandma Heather Smith said her granddaughter hasn’t showered in a month, and claims she has not changed her clothes since her arrival.
Heather has also alleged that Bella was purely “in the wrong place at the wrong time”.
“Bella has been locked up because she was in the wrong company. Wrong place, wrong time. Wrong boyfriend.
“She has been in prison since March but we have finally got a court date for next month.
“She was arrested with a lad, that was not her boyfriend, who she was staying with because things had fallen through with another house.”

Heather called the prison a “hell hole” and says “women get treated far worse than male prisoners”.
“She hasn’t had a shower for a month,” said said. She hasn’t had a change of clothes for three months. She has had nothing.
“She can speak to me and her mum every day though, which is good. But we have been in bits.”

Heather further noted that Bella had told her family that she wished to return to Leeds before her arrest, explaining to them that “she wasn’t happy and she knew something wasn’t right”.
She told her family members that she was ready to move out but was then arrested on unknown charges.
“I don’t know the whole thing. I’m not sure what charges she has been arrested for, only possession of something – probably drugs, but I don’t know for certain. But she is innocent because they have done all the tests and there was nothing in her system,” Heather said.
Since Bella’s arrest, her family have set up a GoFundMe page to get the 21-year-old home. It has so far received £1,000 of a £5,500 target.
The UAE Embassy was contacted for comment but has not yet responded.
