Ok, so here’s how to get the viral music mashup app that’s all over Twitter right now

It’s legit the most fun trend in ages

If you’ve been on Twitter over the past few days – and if you are still doing that during the abysmal X era, my apologies – you will likely have been bombarded by everyone sharing videos from a new app that is being hailed as the most fun thing ever. It’s the latest viral trend on social media for everyone to share what they’ve been cooking up on an app called Mixy – where you can mashup songs into whatever creation you want. If you’re as boggled as I was and wanted to make your own, here’s exactly how you get it and how it works so you can create your own Frankenstein like monstrosities.

The app is called Mixy

One of the biggest viral tweets showing off Mixy the song mashup app is showing off how it mashed up Say So by Doja Cat and Espresso by Sabrina Carpenter. This is a perfect example of a success story from the app because people have always said Espresso was clearly influenced by the massive Say So success in 2020 – and the songs fuse together perfectly.

Less successful however is, err… this:

The concept of Joni Mitchell’s Help Me being shoved into the poppers o’clock chaos of Into You by Ariana Grande is almost too much to bear. But no mashup has been more harrowing than THIS:

Just when you think you’ve heard the end of Emilia Perez, someone shoves it into Drums of Death by Twigs. FREE US.

How to get Mixy

Well, here’s the issue. Because Mixy has gone so viral, there are now reports that you can’t actually get on it yourself. Mixy doesn’t officially release until the 20th May – according to my App Store in the UK.

What people have been using was a Beta version that allowed 10,000 sign ups, but according to the app’s creator this has been exceeded now.

You might just have to wait until the 20th May to crack on with your own – or maybe the team will extend the amount allowed in for Beta because it’s gone so viral. Or hopefully move forward the official release!
