He has been charged with assaulting four women between 1999 and 2005

Russell Brand has denied these charges. He said on X: “What I never was, was a rapist. I’ve never engaged in non-consensual activity… I’m now going to have the opportunity to defend these charges in court and I’m incredibly grateful for that.”
Here’s why he’s going to court for these charges now.

The allegations against Russell Brand were first made public in September 2023. The Sunday Times, The Times and Channel 4 Dispatches reported the sexual assault claims. The journalists spent several years looking into claims about Russell Brand. Because the investigation was carried out by journalists, not the police, these allegations didn’t instantly lead to a trial.
After journalists reported on Russell Brand, the police investigated the claims. They interviewed Russell Brand several times.
