International Women’s Day 2025: Here’s how to celebrate in Liverpool
The time has come to support the most important women in your life
On March 8th, thousands of people across the city will be marking International Women’s Day, which celebrates the achievements of women in social, cultural and political spaces. The day also aims to raise awareness for the issues women, girls and female-identifying people face on a daily basis.
This means that March is all about celebrating women! From Mother’s Day on the 30th (you’re welcome for the reminder) to International Women’s Day this Saturday, the whole 30 days are dedicated to honouring the incredible contributions of women across the world.
This year’s theme is Accelerate Action, which focuses on the speeding up of gender equality and a focus on finding practical solutions to tackle socially ingrained gender inequalities and disparities.
International Women’s Day is a time to recognise achievements, inspire progress, and empower women to keep breaking barriers.Whether you identify as a female, or simply just want to show support and celebrate the female figures in your life, here’s how you can get involved with International Women’s Day across Liverpool.
BandSoc’s Women’s Day fundraiser
Featuring a lineup of incredible female-led bands and talented artists, The Liverpool Guild of Students is hosting a fundraiser gig in The Cellar with the help of BandSoc. You can celebrate International Women’s Day listening to some local students play their hearts out, and you can not only dance and drink cheaply, but feel good for doing it too.
The event is in collaboration with RASA Merseyside, a charity which provides resources and support for survivors of sexual violence across the city centre and beyond. Tickets are £2 and all profits are donated to the charity, so it’s worth heading down for a wholesome night of live music.
The event is on Friday March 7th from 7:30pm – 10:00pm in The Cellar, The Guild Building.

Host a Women’s Day girls night
As a student, sometimes we just don’t have the funds for the things we want to do, but that’s okay – because we can still celebrate the women we love! Gather your girls, split a bottle of bubbly goodness, whack on a chick flick and gossip the night away! Having a wholesome night in with your best female friends sharing your experiences, supporting each other and discussing important topics can be just as important as going out into the world to show your support.
The greatest way of celebrating women is celebrating the women we love, including yourselves ladies! Make sure to treat yourself and give yourself and the women in your life the love they deserve – and keep it going all year round, not just for the big day. Happy International Women’s day to all the female-identifying people out there!
